MINNEAPOLIS--()--Just because it’s January, doesn’t mean it’s not barbeque season. Dairy Queen® restaurants franchised by American Dairy Queen Corporation (ADQ), a Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK.A and BRK.B) company, are lighting up the grill and bringing value to fans this month with the new KC BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger $5 Buck Lunch.

The barbecue flavor of Kansas City hits participating DQ® and DQ Grill & Chill® restaurants beginning January 4. The best value option in fast food, the KC BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger $5 Buck Lunch features an explosion of flavors with the DQ system’s original cheeseburger, topped with sweet and smoky Kansas City style BBQ sauce, American cheese, crispy hickory smoked bacon, zesty pickles and onion, that’s served with fries, a beverage and a signature sundae.

“We shouldn’t have to shut down our love of barbecue just because the calendar flipped to January. While the grill may be on hold, at DQ restaurants we are celebrating BBQ season,” said Barry Westrum, Executive Vice President of Marketing for American Dairy Queen Corporation (ADQ). “Our $5 Buck Lunch is still the best value in the quick-service industry. For just $5, our fans can become a pit master. The bonus is the flavor that we’ve packed into the KC BBQ bacon cheeseburger.”

Focused on the consumer’s desire for post-holiday season value, the DQ system also offers a $1 upgrade to the $5 Buck Lunch to replace the sundae with a Blizzard® Treat. Back by popular demand, the Dairy Queen system brings back the Salted Caramel Truffle Blizzard Treat in January.

The Salted Caramel Truffle Blizzard Treat is a sweet, salty and crunchy blend of salty caramel truffles, toffee, cocoa fudge and choco chunks hand-crafted together with creamy DQ vanilla soft serve. Blizzard Treats are made to order and so thick they are served upside down in four sizes, including the popular Mini. They also can be served in a waffle cone.

“When fans get behind our food, some fun, unexpected and unpredictable and sometimes sweet, stuff happens,” said Westrum. “We are kicking off the New Year with mouthwatering flavors, unbeatable value and incredible variety.”

Many Blizzard Treat flavors, including Salted Caramel Truffle, can easily be made into DQ Cakes which are perfect for special events, birthdays and anniversaries.
