Boston Global Forum Honors Bruce Schneier as Business Leader in Cybersecurity

Resilient Systems CTO Awarded on Global Cybersecurity Day

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--()--Resilient Systems, the industry standard solution for incident response (IR), announced that Chief Technology Officer, Bruce Schneier, received the Business Leader In Cybersecurity Award from the Boston Global Forum (BGF). BGF brings together thought leaders to address problems that affect the world and inspire creative and practical global collaboration to fix these issues.

Schneier was honored during Global Cybersecurity Day, which is observed on December 12 each year. The goal of Global Cybersecurity Day is to inspire the shared responsibility of the world’s citizens to protect the Internet’s safety and transparency. Former Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis, chairman and co-founder of BGF, moderated this year’s event.

Schneier was presented with the Business Leader in Cybersecurity Award for dedicating his career to the betterment of technology security and privacy. Additionally, world leaders in government and cybersecurity were recognized for their contribution to Internet peace and security. These included German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

During the live-streamed event, Schneier also spoke about the speed of innovation that the Internet enables, the security challenges that result, and the need for organizations to become more resilient.

“We, as defenders of society, need to start thinking ahead – more holistically, with more agility and with more resilience. Data, technology, computers, and networks are becoming so fundamental that we will not be able to make society work unless we can get ahead of this. We need to get better at security, not just in reaction to what the attackers do, but to think ahead about what could happen and be able to quickly adapt to what does happen,” said Schneier.

“Congratulations to Bruce – we’re delighted to see our CTO recognized yet again for his leadership and contributions to the industry,” said John Bruce, CEO and co-founder, Resilient Systems. “The Boston Global Forum has done tremendous work this year focusing on society’s cybersecurity challenges. It’s an honor to work alongside them as we aim to ensure organizations can thrive in today’s cyber threat environment.”
