WebPT to Renovate Historic Warehouse, Open Large Downtown Phoenix Tech Campus

PHOENIX--()--WebPT — the leading web-based electronic medical record (EMR) solution for physical, occupational and speech therapists — today announced it plans to move into a 120,000-square-foot tech campus in the Phoenix Warehouse District. WebPT’s portion of the new building will accommodate up to 500 employees.

The move adds to the city’s growing reputation as a tech hub. Thanks in part to its cost-effective business environment and comparably low operating costs, the Valley of the Sun is an attractive location for growing tech companies that cannot afford Silicon Valley overhead.

“Heidi and Brad Jannenga built one of the fastest-growing software companies in the nation and created something unprecedented and special in our Warehouse District,” said Mayor Greg Stanton. “WebPT’s expansion into a bigger warehouse will create even more opportunities for growth. And their shared space with tech-education company Galvanize will certainly become a hub for new synergy and innovation in our entrepreneurial community.”

The Phoenix Warehouse District has undergone a major revitalization in recent years, drawing many companies, schools and other organizations to the area.

“Thanks to the vision of startup pioneers like Heidi and Brad Jannenga and the WebPT team, the Warehouse District is a white-hot center of tech entrepreneurship,” said Councilwoman Kate Gallego. “Today's announcement only confirms that the Warehouse District is the epicenter of the startup economy in the Southwest."

WebPT has been a pillar of Phoenix’s tech innovation movement since 2008, when Heidi Jannenga and her husband, Brad Jannenga, launched the software company in the back of a downtown coffee shop. Since then, WebPT, a three-time Inc. 5000 honoree, has hired more than 250 employees and outgrown two Warehouse District office locations.

“Plans for this building have been in the works for a while, and we’re eager to move forward with creating this incredible space and seeing those plans come to fruition,” said WebPT President and Co-founder Dr. Heidi Jannenga. “This marks the beginning of another exciting chapter for not only WebPT, but the entire Phoenix tech and business community. We’re also looking forward to sharing the space with Galvanize and Allstate, and possibly adding more businesses to the campus in the future.”

The building formerly housed a produce distribution company. Following extensive renovations — including construction of an amphitheater, recording studio, restaurant and coffee shop — the space is expected to be move-in-ready by September 2016.
