DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Water Research Foundation (WRF), a leading sponsor of research supporting the water community, has hired Beate M. Wright as executive director of WRF’s Washington, D.C. office. Wright will contribute to the strategic direction of WRF as part of the Senior Management Team and director of Subscribers Services and Communications and Marketing, and manage the organization’s engagement with various federal agencies.
"We are thrilled that Beate will be joining the Water Research Foundation team,” said Rob Renner, executive director of WRF. “She will play a key role in our growing One Water research and outreach efforts and will continue to foster our relationship with representatives in Washington, D.C.”
A 20 year veteran in water quality and treatment, Wright most recently served as director of operations of Loudoun Water where she managed the utility’s Goose Creek Water Treatment Facility and the Broad Run Water Reclamation Facility. Together, the two facilities manage nearly 30 million gallons of water per day for Loudoun county residents. As director of operations, Wright managed the integration of Loudoun Water’s first large potable water treatment plant, a water reservoir system and an earthen and concrete dam into Loudoun Water’s water system and operations.
Throughout her career, Wright has been an active member of the American Water Works Association (AWWA), and currently serves as the VA Section representative as Director on AWWA’s board. In 2012, AWWA awarded Wright the George Warren Fuller Award for her distinguished service to the water supply field. Additionally, Wright served on the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Water Supply Plan Advisory Panel and the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) Regulatory Advisory Panel.

Wright received a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Clarkson University, a Masters in Environmental Engineering from Manhattan College, and is a licensed P.E.
