SpecialtyCare Adds Leading Perfusion Authorities to Medical Office

Further Strengthens Perfusion Service Team’s Commitment to Clinical Excellence and Research

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--()--SpecialtyCare®, a leading provider of outsourced operating room clinical services, announced today that the company has added two highly regarded leaders to its Medical Office. Linda Bodnar Mongero, CCP, has been named Director of Education and Clinical Performance, and Alfred H. Stammers, MSA, CPBMT, CCP, has joined the team as Director of Clinical Quality and Outcomes Research.

Samuel Weinstein, MD, MBA, Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, said, “I am thrilled to welcome Linda and Al to the SpecialtyCare team. They are well known to the national and international perfusion communities because of their significant passion and dedication to clinical excellence, quality outcomes, and continuous improvement. With Al and Linda, we further extend our commitment to leadership in the field of perfusion, ECMO, and blood management. Their contributions to our research, education, and innovation will increase the value we provide to our customers and patients.”

“During the course of their careers, Al and Linda have added tremendous value and expertise to the operating room,” said Melvin F. Hall, PhD, CEO. “But it’s their work outside the OR—their tireless commitment to advancing clinical care through organizational leadership, research, teaching, writing, and presentations—that I find truly remarkable. I am especially excited that they will play a major role in developing the agenda for Mechanisms, our advanced perfusion forum, in May 2016. I can think of no better people to lead our perfusion team’s pursuit of new knowledge and unparalleled clinical performance.”

Linda Mongero comes to SpecialtyCare from The New York Presbyterian Hospital / Columbia University Medical Center, where she has served as Director of Clinical Perfusion since 1986. As a leading perfusionist and instructor, she has made significant contributions to academic research, clinical trials, and professional organizations. Linda served as President of the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP) and the American Academy of Cardiovascular Perfusion. She is also a member of the American Society of ExtraCorporeal Technology (AmSECT) Quality Assurance Committee and is an advisor to the New York State Board of Health. Linda has presented more than 200 abstracts and articles in the literature. As Director of Education and Clinical Performance, she will use her vast experience to further strengthen SpecialtyCare’s pursuit of clinical excellence.

Al Stammers joins SpecialtyCare from the ESSA Heart and Vascular Institute, part of Pocono Health Systems, and before that, Geisinger Health Systems, where he served as Director of Perfusion Services for a multi-hospital healthcare facility. He has been actively engaged with AmSECT since 1985, holding a variety of significant leadership positions, including President, a member of the Board of Directors, and editor of the Journal of ExtraCorporeal Technology. During his presidency, AmSECT established both the International Board of Evidence-Based Perfusion and the International Board of Blood Management. Al speaks regularly to international audiences, and has over 300 publications on perfusion-related topics. As Director of Clinical Quality and Outcomes Research, he will focus on advancing clinical quality through innovation and work with SpecialtyCare’s extensive warehouse of robust clinical data to identify industry trends and develop safer, more effective practices and techniques for cardiovascular surgery and patient care.
