SevOne Opens Technology and Innovation Center on University of Delaware STAR Campus

Technology and Innovation Center to be Hub of Company's Worldwide Research and Development

NEWARK, Del.--()--SevOne, the leading global provider of digital infrastructure management solutions, today announced the opening of its Technology and Innovation Center on the University of Delaware’s Science, Technology & Advanced Research (STAR) Campus in Newark, Delaware. The two-floor, 50,000-square foot center will serve as the company’s innovation headquarters to accelerate the development of advanced infrastructure management solutions and technologies for today's mobile economy.

The opening of SevOne’s Technology and Innovation Center marks a high point in the company’s long-standing relationship with the state and the University of Delaware. Since it was founded by University alumni Vess and Tanya Bakalov and Jim Young in 2005, SevOne has grown to employ over 500 people worldwide with a corporate headquarters in Boston and additional offices in Philadelphia, London and Bulgaria. More than 230 of SevOne's employees are based in Delaware, and the company plans to add 100 new positions at the STAR campus facility over the next two years. SevOne continues to recruit the most innovative talent in the world locally, drawing up to 70 percent of its interns from the University.

“The SevOne Technology and Innovation Center will not only help to strengthen the local economy, but also accelerate SevOne’s vision to define the future of digital infrastructure performance management,” said Jack Sweeney, CEO for SevOne. “The design and layout of the facility will empower our employees to push the boundaries of speed and scale, explore the toughest questions and imagine what might come next as they seek to solve some of the most significant digital infrastructure management challenges right now.”

The state-of-the-art facility features:

  • Executive Briefing Center to serve as the global hub for customer meetings with SevOne executive and technology leaders
  • Custom workstation neighborhoods specifically designed for the company’s development and design teams to expedite project outputs
  • A 5,000-square foot employee lounge and two interactive game rooms
  • A 35-foot spiral slide from the upper office area directly into the employee lounge
  • A multimedia training center designed to provide customized employee training as part of SevOne’s accelerated hiring plan in partnership with the Workforce Development Team of the Delaware Economic Development Office

“We are thrilled that SevOne has expanded their footprint in Delaware through this long-term investment in the University of Delaware’s STAR Campus and through the company’s rapidly accelerating job growth in our state,” said Delaware Governor Jack Markell. “Delaware remains committed to supporting the state’s technology and business sector, providing the support companies like SevOne need to grow on a global scale and create greater economic opportunity in The First State.”

“SevOne’s commitment to the state confirms that Delaware is not only the best place to start a business, it’s also a great place to grow a business,” said Bernice Whaley, Director, Delaware Economic Development Office. “SevOne is truly an amazing success story; the new Technology and Innovation Center will build upon that success by providing job opportunities for Delawareans in the cutting-edge technology industry.”

The STAR Campus is a 272-acre property currently being developed as a space that combines business, research, education and more. Along with SevOne, STAR Campus is currently home to University of Delaware’s Health Sciences Complex, the eV2g project and California-based Bloom Energy’s East Coast fuel cell manufacturing center.
