ACE OBSERVES GLOBAL DAY OF SERVICE IN THE UK AND IRELAND

Today ACE in the United Kingdom and Ireland is observing a Global Day of Service, a tradition that began in 2005 and reflects ACE’s firm belief that positive contributions to communities return long-lasting benefits to society and the company’s employees and business.

More than 500 employees in the UK and Ireland will participate in 15 volunteer projects focused on education, poverty and health and the environment. Globally, more than 6,000 ACE employees in 50 countries will participate in approximately 250 volunteer projects, donating more than 25,000 hours in the communities where they live and work.

Planned activities for ACE’s Global Day of Service in the UK and Ireland include:

  • In Birmingham, ACE employees are hosting a cake and samosa sale in the office to support the ACORNS Children’s Hospice.
  • In Glasgow, volunteers will be unpacking and storing Harvest donations, among other activities, for the Glasgow City Mission, which provides care to vulnerable children and adults by fighting against poverty and disadvantage.
  • In London, ACE volunteers will paint and decorate the communal areas of Hestia Housing, which provides support to individuals with a range of needs including offenders and ex-offenders; victims of domestic abuse and people with mental health issues.
  • In Leeds, ACE volunteers will provide company for older people, play bingo and help at the lunch club at the Hawksmoor Older People Support Services, a charity helping older people to live independently and proactively participate within their own communities.
  • In Manchester, ACE employees will undertake a variety of activities, including footpath construction and repair; stile, step and footbridge building; fencing; and walling for the Peak Park Conservation Volunteers, a charity supporting the environment of this beautiful National Park.

David Robinson, Country President for ACE in the UK and Ireland, said:

“ACE’s Global Day of Service is a great tradition. It is about making a difference to the lives of those who need our help the most and giving back to the communities we operate in – both here in the UK where we have a strong presence, and around the world. I want to thank all of our employees around the country who are volunteering today. It is their time, contribution and sheer enthusiasm that make this Global Day of Service special.”
