Pluribus Networks Demonstrates Hyperconverged Infrastructure With Nutanix and Dell

Demonstrating Nutanix, Pluribus and Dell Interoperability at Dell World

PALO ALTO, Calif.--()--Pluribus Networks, the company that brings the power of virtualization to the network, announced today that it will be demonstrating direct support for Nutanix at this week’s Dell World 2015 conference in Austin, Texas. The demonstration will consist of Nutanix turnkey hyperconverged appliances connected via Dell’s latest generation of 10G/40G Open Network (ON) switches, with each switch running Pluribus’ Open Netvisor Linux (ONVL) to form a complete hyperconverged infrastructure. The demonstration will highlight the deep level of visibility possible with Pluribus Netvisor at the flow level specific to Nutanix, along with fabric automation.

As part of a growing ecosystem of partnerships, Pluribus recently joined the Nutanix Elevate Technology Alliance Program to enable the rapid delivery of cost-effective hyperconverged infrastructures for end-users faced with dynamic business challenges.

“Since Nutanix’s inception, we have provided hyperconverged solutions that make infrastructure invisible so forward-looking organizations can focus on the applications and services that power their business,” said Venugopal Pai, Vice President of Strategic Alliances and Business Development at Nutanix. “Pluribus is demonstrating its understanding of what it takes to fully unlock the power of Nutanix Acropolis, with advanced networking fabric that delivers simplicity and resiliency.”

Software-defined networking is the last part of the converged infrastructure story, and one that has been lagging traditionally. Pluribus Open Netvisor Linux is based upon its network virtualization fabric architecture, which addresses the networking requirements of a converged data center infrastructure. As part of this demonstration, Dell’s latest generation of open networking hardware switches will be running a complete fabric with flow level analytics showing Nutanix transactions.

According to industry analyst firm Gartner, approximately 7% of all networking ports within a data center are provided by these types of open-switches today, with an expected growth to 10% by next year. This upward trend is expected as enterprises begin to realize that modern data center deployments must support new generations of services-oriented applications and must be dramatically more agile as these demands change. Additionally, more organizations are demanding data center networking solutions that offer the same type of cost-effective solutions already seen in virtualized servers and storage.

“Pluribus Open Netvisor Linux was an important element to add to our networking portfolio as it deeply leverages the advanced capabilities found in our S-series of high performance switches,” said Adnan Bhutta, Corporate Development and Strategy Director at Dell. “As customers make the shift from traditionally rigid computing infrastructures, the combination of Dell switching hardware and Pluribus switching software makes a powerful modern and cost-effective solution to their need for agile networking to support their business.”

Terrapin, a Silicon Valley based reseller of technology solutions from Pluribus, Nutanix and Dell, welcomes the leverage of these complementary value for customers. “Larger customers with mature infrastructures have been dealing with rising costs and daunting complexity. In these organizations, it has become a reality that the infrastructure is defining their business rather than supporting it,” said Chris Bacerra, Founder and CEO of Terrapin. “Our customers are constantly asking for our guidance to help turn this around, with the specific goal being simplification, added security and overall agility. We have chosen to focus on Dell, Nutanix and Pluribus for their collective ability to meet these needs within the data center.”
