      The Second Chance Summit is a gathering of business, nonprofit and government leaders sharing experiences, best practices and resources to power Second Chance Employment, the hiring of people with criminal backgrounds. The session features compelling speakers, actionable resources and networking opportunities. Sponsored by Dave’s Killer Bread and hosted by the Dave’s Killer Bread Foundation, the Summit is designed for business leaders and human resources professionals who are ready to expand employment practices and maintain success while positively impacting individuals and communities.

Keynote Speaker: Former Missouri Senator Jeff Smith

A Missouri State Senator from 2007 to 2009, Jeff Smith went to prison for covering up an election law violation and uncovered the greatest crime of all: the waste of untapped human potential of those with whom he was serving time. Now an assistant professor at The New School’s Milano School of International Affairs, Management, and Urban Planning and the author of Mr. Smith Goes to Prison: What My Year Behind Bars Taught Me About America’s Prison Crisis, Smith is an advocate promoting practical solutions to the broken criminal justice system and true rehabilitation for the millions living behind bars.
