Partners Pharmacy Acquires AP Passport

The premiere on-site automated pharmacy system is part of purchase of Tech Pharmacy Services

CRANFORD, N.J.--()--Partners Pharmacy, the nation’s third largest long-term care pharmacy, recently acquired Tech Pharmacy Services, Inc. (TPS). TPS develops, manufactures, and markets the premiere long-term care automated pharmacy solution, AP PharmaSystem™, which includes AP PassportTM, AP OncallTM and AP SolutionsTM.

AP Passport is America’s most technologically integrated in-house pharmacy system for remote dispensing of patient-specific medications. This system allows medications to be packaged on-site at a long-term care facility for immediate use while remaining under the direct control of the pharmacy. This patent-protected system allows a pharmacy to seamlessly coordinate in-facility dispensing of patient-specific, individually labeled packages for medication administration.

Offering significant advantages over other packaging solutions, AP Passport provides continuous oral dosing of medications at the point-of-care, including controlled substances, while eliminating potential cross contamination with other drugs during the packaging process.

AP Passport is supported through AP Oncall, an integrated customer care center providing proactive monitoring and maintenance 24 hours-a-day, 365 days a year. Additionally, AP Solutions integrates accountability, reporting and analytical functions essential to efficient long-term care facility operations.

"We believe this unique, facility-based medication dispensing technology represents the future of long-term care pharmacy services, and we look forward to expanding its availability as we continue to promote solutions that allow for immediate medication availability to the patients we serve,” said Partners Pharmacy President and CEO Patrick Downing. "This acquisition fits seamlessly within our existing vision, in addition to providing a platform for significant growth in the LTC market,” Downing added.

Partners Pharmacy Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Mindy Ferris said, “We have extensive experience with this technology, having deployed AP Passport in over a hundred nursing facilities. We have seen first-hand the ways that AP Passport can transform nursing workflow, improving quality of care and efficiency. Moreover, the waste-saving benefit of just-in-time packaging is widely recognized by Medicare and third-party insurance programs as a critical element in reducing the high cost of medications. It only makes sense that we integrate this in to our organization.”
