SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--At VMworld 2015, GigaSpaces unveiled a free orchestration service that simplifies the deployment of complex applications on VMware vCloud® Air™. Powered by Cloudify Orchestration, the service plugs-in with VMware’s vCloud Air and offers an easy way to deploy applications.
This service marks the first major public cloud to support Cloudify, offering users an open-source tool to orchestrate in hybrid environments between VMware vCloud Air and VMware vSphere® environments. The service is available natively, and no installation is required by VMware vCloud Air users.
“Everyone says ‘hybrid,’ but it usually stops at the infrastructure layer,” said Nati Shalom, founder and CTO of GigaSpaces. “But this service delivers hybrid orchestration at the application level. This native deployment of Cloudify on VMware vCloud Air was developed for VMware’s public cloud. It is ideal for users who want to sign up and go, without having to download Cloudify and implement it manually.”
VMware vCloud Air Blueprinting and Cloudify
VMware vCloud Air Blueprinting is a service that automates the provisioning of applications and infrastructure to VMware vCloud Air. It enables customers to accelerate application delivery and increases application reliability by reducing human error in the provisioning process. A natural extension to DevOps processes, VMware vCloud Air Blueprinting supports both traditional and cloud-native applications. The blueprinting service was developed by GigaSpaces.
Cloudify is open source, cloud orchestration software which supports the platform-independent TOSCA specification With Cloudify, enterprises can use a single, open source cloud orchestration platform across clouds, with virtualization approaches such as virtual machines or Docker containers, and with different automation toolsets like Puppet, Chef or SaltStack.
Blueprinting Service Demonstrations and Presentations at VMworld
GigaSpaces will give demonstrations of the new service in several locations at this week’s VMworld®. In the Solutions Exchange area, see a demonstration at the VMware vCloud Air Pavilion or in the VCE booth. In the DevOps Zone located in the HangSpace, Cloudify will have a demo booth. Participants can see live demos on demand or scheduled demonstrations at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. each day.
Also, GigaSpaces Founder and CTO Nati Shalom will provide a demonstration of the service during a session titled, “Orchestrating Applications at vCloud Air” on Wednesday, September 2 at 2 p.m. PDT. Shalom will be joined in the presentation by Paco Gomez, senior solutions architect, Cloud Services, VMware and by Michael Cincinatus, senior director, Product Marketing, Cloud Services, VMware.
