HTA Issues RFP for Cruise Development Consultation Services

HONOLULU--()--The Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA), the state’s tourism agency, has released a request for proposals (RFP) for Cruise Development Consultation Services.

Maintaining and developing access to Hawaii is essential to the sustainability of its tourism economy and is a priority for the HTA. While the cruise industry is still a relatively small market in Hawaii, it continues to be very important and provides visitors with an alternate way to visit and experience the destination.

The selected contractor will assist the HTA in its objective of achieving and exceeding cruise targets with managed visitor distribution to all islands by maintaining and developing new cruise business and growing market share against competing destinations. The selected contractor’s roles and responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Serve as the HTA’s representatives at in-depth meetings at the headquarters of domestic and foreign cruise lines that voyage (and have the potential to voyage) to the Hawaiian Islands;
  • Participate in the annual Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Meeting in October and Seatrade Cruise Global Event;
  • Act as a liaison for the HTA in the following departments: itinerary planning, revenue management and marketing;
  • Prepare and make a presentation to the HTA’s Board of Directors on the state of the industry, as requested by the HTA and in conjunction with the HTA’s annual Tourism Conference; and
  • Provide other ad hoc service analyses as may be requested by the HTA.

The RFP may be downloaded at www.hawaiitourismauthority.org on July 31, 2015. Respondents are encouraged to review information on the HTA website for additional background. Proposals under the RFP are due no later than 4:30 p.m. Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time (HAST) on Aug. 24, 2015.

Inquiries should be directed to the HTA procurement officer for this RFP, Ronald Rodriguez, at 1801 Kalakaua Avenue, Honolulu, Hawaii 96815, by telephone at (808) 973-2251, or email at ronald@gohta.net.
