Imprivata Joins ACE (App Configuration for Enterprise) to Drive a Common Vision for Mobility and Security in Healthcare

Imprivata to Collaborate with other Technology Leaders to Develop Open Standards Approach for Enabling Secure, Mobile Access to Protected Health Information across the Care Continuum

LEXINGTON, Mass.--()--Imprivata® (NYSE: IMPR), the healthcare IT security company, today announced it has joined ACE (App Configuration for Enterprise), an organization dedicated to developing an open standard approach for managing and securing apps deployed via enterprise mobility management (EMM) solutions. Imprivata will help drive the ACE healthcare strategy to support clinical mobility and enable secure, simplified access to protected health information (PHI) anywhere, anytime, and from any device across the care continuum.

“Mobility can transform healthcare by improving efficiency, driving patient engagement, and enabling innovations in care delivery such as the Internet of Things and telemedicine. But harnessing the power of mobility requires simplified, secure access to PHI for providers, patients, and other stakeholders across the care continuum,” said David Ting, founder and CTO at Imprivata. “Developing an open standards approach for how applications are configured, deployed, and secured is a necessary step. Joining ACE aligns Imprivata with like-minded, forward-thinking industry leaders that believe standardization is essential for building an ecosystem of secure, easy to manage, interoperable apps and systems.”

Imprivata joins ACE founding partners AirWatch, Box, Cisco, Salesforce, Workday, and Xamarin to drive standardization for app deployment and security across organizations. Imprivata will leverage its extensive experience in developing innovative, secure mobile applications for care providers to drive the ACE healthcare strategy. Imprivata mobility solutions such as Imprivata Cortext®, the secure communications platform for healthcare, and Hands Free Authentication for fast, convenient two-factor authentication, combine security and convenience for providers to improve clinical productivity, care coordination, and the patient experience.

Imprivata Cortext enables secure mobile and desktop messaging inside and outside of the hospital. It supports native mobile platforms for iPhones, iPads, Android-based devices, and BlackBerrys as well as a native desktop application and browser based application for PCs and Macs. Imprivata Cortext also offers application programming interface (API)-level integration with leading third-party alerting, scheduling and EMR applications to allow providers to receive critical alerts, scheduling notifications, lab results, and other information directly to their preferred device, which helps customers further streamline clinical workflow and improve care coordination.

Imprivata Hands Free Authentication wirelessly retrieves and verifies a one-time password (OTP) from an application on a user’s mobile device, even if it is locked, without requiring any manual interaction. It integrates with Imprivata Confirm ID™, the industry’s most comprehensive authentication platform for electronic prescribing of controlled substances (EPCS), to give care providers a fast, secure, frictionless two-factor authentication solution that meets DEA requirements for EPCS with no disruption to clinical workflows.

“VMware is thrilled to have one of the leading healthcare app providers join ACE, and show commitment to driving business mobility in the enterprise,” said Mimi Spier, senior director of strategic business development and leader of ACE program, VMware. “Healthcare is leading the charge in mobile transformation and it will continue to innovate with mobility because of companies like Imprivata dedicated to a consistent way to secure and configure apps. The partnership between ACE and Imprivata will help improve provider productivity through mobile apps, so they can better focus on patient experience.”
