Sailthru Earns 2015 Online Trust Alliance Honor Roll Distinction

Naming Sailthru to its prestigious list for the third year, the OTA recognizes the personalization and marketing automation platform’s commitment to consumer protection, security and privacy

NEW YORK--()--Sailthru, the leader in driving customer lifetime value through personalization, today was named to the 2015 Online Trust Alliance (OTA) Honor Roll, marking the third consecutive year the company has earned this distinction. The Honor Roll analyzes nearly 1,000 of the leading, high-traffic consumer facing websites for implementation of online security and privacy best practices. Sailthru is recognized for its continued commitment to industry leadership in building, advocating and following these best practices.

For the last seven years, the OTA Honor Roll has judged high-traffic websites on three pillars of online trust: brand protection, privacy and security. If a site scores 80%, or over, in all three pillars it is recognized on the Honor Roll. Additionally, for this year’s criteria, the OTA looked at many key findings from the recently drafted Consumer Privacy Bill of Rights Act, which calls for consumers to be informed and able to make decisions regarding their privacy and security on the sites they frequent. This includes a website’s use of an Opportunistic Transport Layer Security (TLS), which is a protocol that sites can use to encrypt email communications server to server; as well as domain-based message authentication and reporting and conformance policies, which is a method of email authentication that keeps consumers safe by rejecting emails from unauthorized domains.

"As new threats arise and respect for privacy is being challenged, more safeguards are needed to help keep consumers safe, therefore it becomes more difficult to qualify for the Honor Roll year after year," said Craig Spiezle, President and Executive Director, The Online Trust Alliance. "The fact that Sailthru has consistently been included is a testament to its dedication to creating a safer web for everyone."

Sailthru handles massive amounts of consumer information each day, as its clients like the Clymb and Alex and Ani rely on the solution to drive their marketing efforts. "As online commerce and content consumption continue to increase, every brand and marketer must understand what it means to take their customer's data privacy seriously. The OTA is stewarding excellence in data privacy and security and we are honored to be among those leading the way in bringing awareness to these important topics,” said Caroline McCaffery, General Counsel, Sailthru. “We make this a priority for Sailthru every year and I cannot underscore enough the value of all other brands doing so as well."
