Susquehanna Health Taps Aegis Health Group to Support Population Health Initiatives with a Community and Employer-Directed Health Program

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.--()--Susquehanna Health, a nationally recognized health system, has engaged Aegis Health Group to improve the health of their communities by aligning hospital programs with the needs of local employers. The Aegis program includes an on-site Employer Relations Specialist responsible for developing partnerships with area businesses and community groups.

As part of this partnership, Aegis will support the system’s four hospitals, which serve the north central Pennsylvania region. At the foundation of the program is OneCommunity, a population health website and innovative consumer engagement tool. It allows users to track their health and wellness activities, enables employers to anticipate and mitigate workforce health risks, and promotes strategic hospital service lines.

“A rise in high-deductible health plans and increased out-of-pocket costs for the employee has resulted in a greater focus on prevention, education and health management,” said Matt McLaughlin, director of Occupational Health for Susquehanna Health. “Our expert medical staff and strong community ties place Susquehanna Health in a perfect position to be a part of the healthcare solution for both local employers and their employees.”

“We have seen the success of this program in other hospitals across the country, and are excited about the opportunity to work with Susquehanna,” said Phil Suiter. “At a time when employers are looking for ways to control and understand healthcare costs, and hospitals are looking to impact market share, this is a meaningful program where the ultimate winner is a healthier community.”
