VOORHEES, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--American Water, the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company, announced that American Water Resources of Florida and Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC-The Reliable One®) today launched their partnership to offer Home Warranty Protection Programs to more than 200,000 residential customers in Orlando, St. Cloud and portions of unincorporated Orange and Osceola counties. As the exclusive provider of Home Warranty Protection Programs for OUC, American Water Resources of Florida aims to educate homeowners on their responsibilities regarding exterior water and sewer lines while providing other programs that help homeowners guard against in-home plumbing problems and interior electric line failures. These programs cover repairs not typically protected under homeowners insurance.
“We take great pride in our reputation as OUC-The Reliable One®,” said Roseann Harrington, Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Community Relations. “For more than 92 years, OUC has provided its customers with reliable energy and great tasting water. We believe that our customers who take advantage of these programs will have an extra layer of security knowing that if unanticipated home repairs are needed, they’re covered.”
“We are honored to partner with OUC to provide these customized protection programs to its customers,” said Malcolm Conner, President, American Water Resources of Florida. “OUC shares in our commitment to reliability, dependability, customer service and community. Through our Home Warranty Protection Programs, homeowners in the greater Orlando area will help protect themselves from the financial demands and pressures caused by unexpected home repairs."
To help homeowners better manage the financial risk of repairs, Orlando Utilities Commission issued a Request for Proposals from qualified providers for Home Warranty Protection Programs in 2014. American Water Resources of Florida was awarded the contract to administer the Programs for the eligible properties in OUC’s service territory.
Designed to protect homeowners from the unexpected cost of home repairs, the protection programs provide a solution for repairs that are neither the responsibility of the utility provider nor covered by typical homeowners’ insurance. American Water Resources of Florida manages the Home Warranty Protection Programs – from establishing a local contractor network and providing bi-lingual customer service, to educating homeowners about their responsibilities.
The Home Warranty Protection Programs being offered include:
- Water Line Protection Program
- Sewer Line Protection Program
- Interior Electric Line Protection Program
- Power Surge Protection Program
- In-Home Plumbing Protection Program
Program participants will receive 24-hour claims support and a one year warranty on all covered repairs with no forms to submit and no deductibles.
Details about these programs and how to enroll will be arriving in the mail for eligible homeowners beginning today. Information is also available online at AWRUSA.com/OUC or by calling 1-877-320-4624.
