Fifteen Former Secretaries of Transportation and Homeland Security Rally to Support the Need for a National Coast Guard Museum

NEW LONDON, Conn.--()--An unprecedented collaboration has formed spanning decades and impervious to party lines. The Secretary’s Circle Advisory Board will support the National Coast Guard Museum Association in its fundraising efforts to build the first National Coast Guard Museum in New London, Connecticut.

The Honorable James M. He said, “Preserving the history of the U.S. Coast Guard must be done. The Secretary’s Circle is hosting the group’s first event April 29 at the Army and Navy Club in Washington, D.C. This is the Circle’s first public event supporting the Museum campaign. The event will be hosted by The Honorable Rodney Slater representing the Circle’s co-chairs, the Honorable Norman Mineta and the Honorable Thomas J. Ridge.

Secretary Mineta was the first to join the Secretary’s Circle. About the National Coast Guard Museum

The National Coast Guard Museum will honor the heroism of those who answered the call to always be ready: Semper Paratus. Permanent and revolving exhibits will tell compelling stories of the past, the present and the future as they evoke the Coast Guard’s critical role and mission in maritime security, safety, protection of natural resources, and national defense. The museum will use interactive and modern technology to engage the public, veterans and the present Coast Guard as they serve our nation now and into the future.
