Allure Announces Novo Behavior-based Security Solution; Equips Security Professionals to Take Action Against Data Loss

CEO to present on behavioral analytics and decoy technologies at RSA Conference 2015

** RSA Conference USA 2015

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Allure Security Technology Inc. today announced Novo, a new product that combines user behavioral analytics and decoy technology to stop data loss. Novo combines machine learning of user behavior with decoys to protect enterprise devices, while giving security professionals the power to take action against data loss and protect every device associated with their business, both inside and outside the enterprise. The technology was developed with millions of dollars of support from DARPA and scientifically tested in the labs of Columbia University.

At the heart of the security community this week at RSA Conference 2015, Allure Founder and CEO Salvatore Stolfo, will discuss the behavior analytics technology and science behind Novo in session BR-W04, “You Are What You Click: Using Decoys to Identify Mobile Device Attackers”.

Novo keeps businesses safe by enabling them to:

  • Assess an enterprise’s well being at a glance with easy-to-read visualizations.
  • Identify unusual activity in real-time with prioritized alerts on the Novo dashboard.
  • Interact with data to connect the dots between events, people and devices.
  • Respond immediately to events.

Using active behavioral analytics, Novo learns how people search their devices, access applications and touch files to create a unique behavioral profile for every user. Users first download sensors to their station and devices, which allow Novo to create a unique behavioral signature and continuously authenticate each user. Documents are beaconized and enticing fake documents, or decoys, are distributed across the system. The sensors then go to work, alerting the user to any unusual activity and prompting them to re-authenticate if suspicious behavior occurs. Subsequently a prioritized alert is sent to the dashboard detailing whether the user was able to re-authenticate, which document was accessed and where and when it was opened. The administrator can configure automatic actions or immediately take action by locking the device, or collecting forensic or contextual data.

A scientifically validated user study of Novo proved 95 percent accuracy with just one false positive per 40 hour work week. This proven low occurrence of errors can positively impact a business’s productivity – security professionals are not chasing down dozens of false leads every week.

“At Allure, we strongly believe in building intuitive security solutions for humans – not machines – and our unique application of decoys to security solutions is extremely relevant for the way people work today. Security solutions need to better align with the goals of the businesses they protect, and Novo takes a giant leap in this direction,” said Stolfo. “Novo is easy-to-use, effective and empowers people to take an active role in protecting their company against security breaches. We are confident this approach is the future of security, and look forward to growing our offerings in this manner.”

Novo is available now for pilot testing and will be commercially available to customers worldwide on a subscription basis beginning in the fall of 2015. Please contact Allure for enterprise pricing: http://www.alluresecurity.com/contact/.

RSA Conference: “You Are What You Click: Using Decoys to Identify Mobile Device Attackers”

RSA Conference attendees can learn more about the technology behind Novo at Stolfo’s session, BR-W04 “You Are What You Click: Using Decoys to Identify Mobile Device Attackers”. Stolfo, along with Joel Peterson, director of product development and software research at Allure, will present the results of a DARPA-funded study to understand how behavior on a mobile device uniquely identifies (and defines) the user. The results show that individuals have predictable patterns of behavior and that masqueraders can often be detected within two minutes.
