MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Skyport Systems, Inc., the developer of Hyper-Secured Infrastructure that ensures the security of mission-critical IT and corporate assets, announced today that it has closed a $30M Series B funding round led by Index Ventures, with participation from Intel Capital and existing investor Sutter Hill Ventures. The Series B round brings total Skyport funding to $37M.
"In today's age of mobile devices and cloud computing, modern enterprise companies need to fundamentally rethink their approach to protecting their security perimeters," said Mike Volpi, general partner at Index Ventures, who joins the Skyport board of directors. "Stefan and his team at Skyport are building cutting-edge solutions to secure and protect critical services and we're excited to team up with them as they expand their work at the intersection of the billion-dollar compute and security pillars within IT."
“We firmly believe in the value of extending security practices in the enterprise,” said Jason Waxman, vice president and general manager, Cloud Platforms Group at Intel. “Our collaboration with Skyport will help to further enhance the trust companies can have in their IT infrastructure using Intel® TXT technology.”
The sophistication and effectiveness of recent security breaches, the prevalence of insider-enabled intrusions and the consolidation of IT control points driven by cloud and virtualization technologies have drastically changed requirements for critical asset security. Skyport Systems’ approach tightly integrates compute, security, virtualization and policy management.
The Skyport leadership team includes some of the world’s leading experts in virtualization, cryptography, systems engineering and networking, with veterans of Cisco, Juniper Networks and Arista Networks.
“Network security models today have been compromised, due to reliance on perimeter security and static network policies that fail to address the current threat landscape,” said Stefan Dyckerhoff, CEO of Skyport Systems and managing director at Sutter Hill Ventures. “Skyport will use this funding to deliver a fundamentally new approach and solution to protecting business’ most mission-critical IT control infrastructure and applications.”
