SANTA FE SPRINGS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Applied BioCode announced today that it has expanded its existing License and Supply Agreement for its multiplex Barcoded Magnetic Bead (BMB) technology with PerkinElmer. The non-exclusive license from Applied BioCode provides PerkinElmer with access to Applied BioCode’s 4,096-plex BMB patents and BioCode MDx 3000 high throughput system for the Asian markets. PerkinElmer will develop market specific multiplexed molecular diagnostics infectious disease assays for the BioCode MDx 3000 system and distribute these products into select markets in Asia.
“We are very pleased to expand our relationship with PerkinElmer for our 4,096 BMBs and new BioCode MDx 3000 integrated high throughput Molecular Diagnostic System,” said Winston Ho, President of Applied BioCode. “PerkinElmer has excellent reagent development and regulatory capabilities, as well as a strong sales channel, in China and throughout Asia for commercializing our automated high throughput BioCode MDx 3000 system.”
“The Applied BioCode 4,096-plex BMB technology is designed to provide our Asian customers with an easy-to-use automated high throughput multiplex Molecular Diagnostic testing solution,” stated Johnson Zhang, Vice President and General Manager, Diagnostics, Asia-Pacific, PerkinElmer. “The technology is based on a 96-well microplate which addresses the cost competitive, highly automated high volume molecular diagnostics market. The BioCode system allows testing of highly multiplexed MDx assays while increasing sample throughput, reducing sample size requirements and helping to lower overall laboratory costs in these important geographic market segments.”
Additional terms of the agreement were not available.
