CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The International Interior Design Association New England Chapter will honor Marie E. Fitzgerald of SMMA | Symmes Maini & McKee Associates with the IIDA 2015 New England Leadership Award, for her contributions to the interior design profession and her impact on the region’s design community. The award will be presented at the Chapter’s Business Leaders Breakfast, taking place on May 7th at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel.
Marie is a Senior Vice President and Principal at SMMA, leading both the Interior Design Studio and the Corporate + Technology Practice. She grew the Interiors group from a small support service to a team of 19 professionals working with clients that include Fortune 500 companies, technology start-ups, and educational institutions. She is also the first woman elected to the firm’s Board of Directors.

Marie is a volunteer leader in IIDA, supporting the Emerging Leaders program and serving in a number of roles, including a term on the Chapter Board. Her past honors include selection as Designer of the Year by CoreNet Global New England, as well as multiple design awards for her team’s corporate and commercial interiors work.
