XO Communications Expands Unified Communications Features

Award-Winning Hosted PBX Service Enables Enterprises to Increase Productivity

HERNDON, Va.--()--XO Communications (XO), a leading national provider of advanced IP communications, launched today a full suite of unified communications (UC) features for its award-winning Hosted PBX (HPBX) service. The new XO HPBX features include: instant messaging; presence (availability status); integration with Microsoft Outlook; web-based collaboration, document and desktop sharing; as well as video calling and fax-to-email capabilities. The XO HPBX service now automatically includes the popular WorkTimeTM mobility application that incorporates a smartphone app and virtual phone client for the user’s desktop. The growing XO suite of unified communications tools is designed to increase user productivity regardless of where they are – in the office, at home or on the road.

The new XO HPBX UC features combine with existing offerings to deliver a complete solution at an affordable price. The new UC features boost worker productivity by making it easy to communicate and collaborate via multiple devices, including desk phones, smart phones, tablets, desktops and laptops. Employees also can extend their phone numbers to personal smartphones and computers while keeping work and personal information separate. As a result, workers can reduce the time they spend playing phone tag, looking for information, locating coworkers or sifting through email.

“In today’s highly mobile business economy, enterprises need their employees to be able to collaborate anytime, anywhere using high-quality voice, data, video and other apps on company provided and personal devices,” said Jake Heinz, senior vice president of marketing and product at XO Communications. “Therefore, cloud PBX and unified communications services are expected to grow to a $12 billion worldwide market by 2018, according to Infonetics. The XO HPBX features are designed to meet the collaboration needs of businesses of all sizes in this rapidly expanding market.”

The XO WorkTime mobility application previously received Light Reading Leading Lights and INTERNET TELEPHONY Product of the Year awards. The XO HPBX service also won an INTERNET TELEPHONY Excellence and INTERNET TELEPHONY Product of the Year awards. In addition, Infonetics recognized XO as one of the top two IP connectivity suppliers of VoIP in North America.
