Methodics Selected as Next Generation IP Management Solution by indie Semiconductor

ProjectIC and VersIC Deliver Advanced Capabilities to Accelerate SoC Development and Enable IP Reuse

SAN FRANCISCO--()--To better position itself to meet the growing challenges and opportunities of SoC design, indie Semiconductor has selected the Methodics ProjectIC and VersIC product bundle as its next generation Data Management and IP Lifecycle Management solution for its analog/mixed signal and system on chip (SoC) engineering groups.

“indie Semiconductor selected the Methodics IP Management solution after an extended evaluation that included competing tools,” said Andrew Kemp, EDA and Methodologies Manager at indie Semiconductor. “The native, industry-standard Subversion support together with the flexible and open technical discussions we had with the Methodics development team gave us confidence that this was the correct solution for indie Semiconductor and the start of a long-term partnership.”

According to the indie Semiconductor team, the Methodics solution replaces an older, and no longer competitive system at indie Semiconductor. Methodics delivers:

  • A proven next-generation IP data management platform, leveraging industry standards and open APIs to provide flexibility and confidence in handling the requirements of ever-increasing chip data volumes, and
  • Demonstrated ‘best-in-class’ data management for analog/mixed signal designers in the Cadence Virtuoso environment.

Methodics is uniquely equipped to solve indie’s SoC expanding data volume and design challenges,” said Christian Burisch, Director of EMEA for Methodics. “We are working directly with indie’s Edinburgh-based methodology team to accelerate their ability to coordinate IP reuse across global design teams.”

With the decision to switch to Methodics, indie is readying itself to better meet the demands of its customers. Methodics' software solutions will ensure that indie can continue to be successful while moving toward an intensive design reuse model, meeting faster time-to-market goals, and maintaining its emphasis on reliability in its designs.

“As system-on-chip (SoC) designs get ever more complex and grow in size, the amount of design data grows exponentially. This creates both challenges and opportunities,” said Simon Butler, Co-Founder and CEO of Methodics. “The challenges come in the form of managing large sets of data files and keeping all the data – schematics, layouts, simulations, etc. - in synch across multiple groups and geographic sites so that successful, on-time tape-outs are assured. At the same time, this explosion in data is driving an opportunity for semiconductor companies to become more efficient and create new designs faster by seeking ways to re-use existing IP blocks in new SoC designs.”
