HAMBURG--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone, announced today that it has added a new Point of Presence (PoP) at Global Connect in Hamburg. The company’s sixth PoP in the country, Incolocate/Global Connect’s facility is located at: Wendenstrasse 379, Hamburg, Germany.
Hurricane Electric employs a resilient fiber-optic topology and has no less than four redundant paths crossing North America, two separate paths between the U.S. and Europe, with rings in Europe and Asia. Having first deployed IPv6 in 2001, Hurricane Electric offers IPv6 as a core service; every customer is provided IPv6 connectivity as well as classic IPv4 connectivity. Customers at Global Connect Hamburg facility will have the opportunity to exchange IP traffic, or “peer,” with Hurricane Electric’s global network and experience increased network connectivity through 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 gigabit Ethernet), GigE (1 gigabit Ethernet) and 100BaseT network connections.
To help accommodate companies that are experiencing rapid growth as well as those on fixed budgets, Hurricane Electric also offers both burstable as well as flat rate pricing options for businesses that are in need of high speed IP transit.
One of the leading alternate providers of fiber network, data centers and cloud solutions, Global Connect networks Denmark, Northern Germany and parts of Sweden with 13,000km of optical fibers and 13,000m2 of data center space. As with all of its data centers, Connect’s Hamburg facility features redundant cooling systems, backup generators, and an array of environmental and security monitoring systems to ensure uptime.
“We are excited to continue our expansion into the booming German telecommunications market,” said Mike Leber, President of Hurricane Electric. “Because Germany is Europe’s largest IT market, establishing this new Point of Presence in Hamburg was an easy decision. This new connection allows Hurricane Electric to solidify its position as a leader in high quality IP transit.”
In addition to the Hamburg PoP, Hurricane Electric’s other German Points of Presence can be found in: Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt (2), and Munich.
