SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--()--Stephen Becker, president and CEO of Planet Shelby Cobra, will auction off the 427 Shelby Cobra (Lot#1275) currently on display at the Scottsdale Jetport in Arizona. The continuation Cobra will be sold on Saturday, Jan. 17, at no reserve during the 44th Annual Barrett-Jackson auction, which runs from Jan. 10-18 at WestWorld of Scottsdale.

“The 427 Shelby Cobra is still one of the most iconic vehicles in the world,” said Becker. “This particular Cobra was used by Barrett-Jackson as a promotional car for their auctions. Now, someone will take home this unique piece of history.”

This spectacular 1965 427 Shelby Cobra (CSX6170) is owned by Planet Shelby Cobra. Featuring LeMans Blue paint with Wimbledon White LeMans stripes, and a black interior, this vehicle was finished to appear stock, but has several significant internal upgrades.

The engine was built with an original 1960s cast-iron Ford side oiler 427 block, forged internals and new correct medium riser cylinder heads. Modern engine building techniques bumped the output from the original 425hp to an engine dyno proven 495+hp. However, a mild cam maintains excellent street manners and low end torque, yet it still pulls strong to 6,000+rpm. The engine was dressed with many period correct parts including an Aviaid oil pan, sandcast Cobra valve covers, medium riser intake, LeMans carburetor and turkey pan air box.

Power runs through a blueprinted TKO 600 5-speed with treated gears and rated for 800hp. The car also features the original style swept forward shifter, horn button, Raydyot mirrors and Lucas headlights to add to the overall aesthetic authenticity. It comes with a MSO listing it as a 1965 Cobra signed by the late Carroll Shelby. The car will also be submitted to the Shelby American Automobile Club Registry.

Shelby American builds the Cobra 427 S/C (CSX6000), Cobra 289 FIA (CSX7000) and street Cobra (CSX8000) component vehicles. While still true to their heritage, these genuine Cobras incorporate subtle updates to make it even more enjoyable to own than those built in the 1960s. The CSX6000, also known as the Shelby Big Block 427 Cobra, can reach 0-60 MPH in less than 4 seconds and has an 11-second ¼ mile performance when fitted with a proper drivetrain. Each authentic Shelby Cobra is available with a fiberglass or aluminum body and comes with an official CSX VIN & Badge Number.

In addition to selling Shelby Cobras, Stephen Becker’s Planet Shelby Cobra is a trusted resource for buying and selling 1965-1970 Shelbys based on the Ford Mustang. The company has specialized in the Shelby brand automobile business for over 30 years. Planet Shelby Cobra is a Shelby American Inc. factory authorized dealer and a Shelby authorized mod shop.

“Over the years, Stephen Becker has been an active part of the Barrett-Jackson scene,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company. “He is a great resource for anyone who is interested in buying or selling their Shelby car.”
