First OSGi Developer Certifications Awarded at OSGi Community Event 2014

Event Launches OSGi Developer Certification Program, IoT Demo and Hackathon

SAN RAMON, Calif.--()--Seven OSGi developers achieved OSGi Developer Certification at the OSGi Community Event 2014, earning OSGi Developer Certification - Foundation Level.

OSGi Developer Certification proves IT professional and developer expertise and experience with OSGi technology and OSGi specifications and provides employers with confirmation of an employee’s or prospective employee’s OSGi qualifications.

“OSGi Developer Certification indicates to employers and peers that the developer has the foundational knowledge necessary to deliver all of the benefits of OSGi technology for your organization, from shorter time to market to reduced development costs and maintenance costs,” said Dan Bandera, president of the OSGi Alliance.

The OSGi developers awarded OSGi Developer Certification include:

  • David Bosschaert, Adobe
  • BJ Hargrave, IBM
  • Tim Ward, Paremus
  • Carsten Ziegeler, Adobe
  • Balázs Zsoldos, Everit Kft

The OSGi Developer Certification exam covers the topics of modularity, bundle lifecycle, principles of services, and basic usage of a set of OSGi Compendium Specifications. The certification is valid for three years and renewable with a current test.

The second OSGi Developer Certification exam will be Jan. 22, 2015, in San Francisco, Calif.

OSGi Community Event 2014

The OSGi Community Event 2014, sponsored by IBM, featured well-attended talks about OSGi technology and the OSGi ecosystem and launched the OSGI Alliance’s first OSGi Internet of Things (IoT) demo and hackathon. Tobiasz Dworak from Research & Engineering Center won best application in the hackathon. The OSGi IoT demo will be continued at future events to include other products and additional applications.
