DUSSELDORF, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone, today announced that it has added a new Point of Presence (PoP) at Interxion Dusseldorf, located at In der Steele 29, Dusseldorf, Germany. The cloud and carrier-neutral data centre provides the latest highly secure, scalable infrastructure for mission-critical IT systems with a wide range of connectivity solutions, in more than 2,800m2 of equipable space.
Hurricane Electric employs a resilient fiber-optic topology, and has four redundant paths crossing North America, two separate paths between the U.S. and Europe, and rings in Europe and Asia. Having first deployed IPv6 in 2001, Hurricane Electric offers IPv6 as a core service; every customer is provided IPv6 connectivity as well as classic IPv4 connectivity.
Hurricane Electric is continuing to grow its footprint within Germany’s extensive data centre industry. Situated within Dusseldorf’s “Connecta Park,” Hurricane Electric’s sixth German PoP will enable customers to experience improved fault tolerance, lower latency and increased network capacity through 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 gigabit Ethernet), GigE (1 gigabit Ethernet) and 100BaseT network connections. Additionally, customers will now have the opportunity to exchange IP traffic, or “peer,” with Hurricane Electric’s global network.
“Hurricane Electric is committed to providing unparalleled IP connectivity to customers in the EU and around the world,” said Mike Leber, President of Hurricane Electric. “I’m particularly excited about our most recent expansion, as Germany is the largest European IT market. The Dusseldorf PoP will allow Hurricane Electric to remain a leader in the incredible growth in IPv6 traffic.”
