Cash is the #1 gift kids want the most this holiday season, according to 78% of children ages 13-16. Clothes came in second (62%) followed by an entertainment related gift like a movie, book, or music (41%), a laptop (41%), and headphones (40%).

The Ebates.com holiday survey additionally discovered that like children, the gift most preferred by American adults this holiday season is also cash (33%).
American adult wish lists vary when it comes to electronic and non-gadget gifts this holiday season. For the nation’s tech enthusiasts, the #1 item on wish lists is a tablet (26%), followed by a laptop (25%), iPhone 6 (19%), Samsung Galaxy smartphone (15%) and PlayStation 4 (14%). Conversely, almost three fourths (73%) of US gift recipients wanting items that are not electronics say they most want to receive clothes. Other non-gadget gifts on their list include an entertainment related gift like a movie or book (32%), a vacation (30%), a night out (26%), and jewelry (25%).

Roughly one third of Americans (29%) will start shopping for holiday gifts in early November; while another one fifth (20%) will start on Black Friday and/or Cyber Monday. More than half (69%) of Americans will participate in Black Friday shopping this year, primarily in the following ways:
- Shopping online from the comfort of home - 41%
- Going to the mall, but usually after the morning rush dies down - 25%
- Starting shopping online at midnight on Black Friday to get the best deals - 25%
A small portion of the country admits they will either camp out in front of the store for days to get their top gifts (6%) or send their kids or significant other with a list to do the shopping for them (6%).
