Alfresco Deepens Commitment to Amazon Web Services with New Products & Features

Alfresco Software Expands Cloud Offerings and Support of AWS

AWS re:Invent 2014

LAS VEGAS--()--Alfresco Software, a leading provider of modern enterprise content management (ECM) and business process management (BPM) software, announces a series of new services deployed on Amazon Web Services (AWS) along with major enhancements to existing offerings. With its long-standing commitment to open-source, Alfresco is best positioned for delivering solutions that meet the needs of the digital enterprise.

Alfresco is developing specific tools for its core customers on AWS, including digital asset management and transcoding capabilities, increased government cloud usage through support of the AWS GovCloud (US) Region and the introduction of Alfresco Activiti in the Cloud, empowering organizations to easily build process-oriented business applications in the cloud.

“We’re extremely excited about the Digital Asset Management features in Alfresco One 5.0,” said Andrew Ho, senior director of information technology at Teach For All. “As a global organization that heavily utilizes video to better illustrate our work and mission in over 30 countries across 6 continents, we have a huge need for robust, enterprise-wide media management capabilities to help keep our rich media library in order. Plus, as a non-profit organization with limited facilities, we depend upon cloud services, such as Amazon Web Services, to securely and reliably deliver these features to our constituents around the world.”

Alfresco One Enterprise 5.0 is deployable on AWS for scalable and secure cloud-hosted ECM environment, and continues to build on Alfresco’s tradition of rich AWS support with new features and add-on modules:

  • AWS GovCloud (US) Support: Recognizing the importance of security and compliance to government customers, Alfresco has simplified how Alfresco One is configured to use AWS GovCloud (US) services.
  • Encryption of Data-at-Rest: Enhances Alfresco’s existing support for Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) with client-side encryption and customer-managed encryption keys. At-rest data encryption is available now as an add-on module.
  • Digital Asset Management: Customers working with multimedia assets will benefit from Alfresco’s forthcoming DAM module supporting Amazon Elastic Transcoder for video transcoding and the Amazon CloudFront content delivery network.

Smart Process Apps in the Cloud with Alfresco Activiti

Alfresco Activiti, a powerful and open business process management (BPM) platform, is now available as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering and deployed on AWS. Featuring ease-of-use, multi-device accessibility and performance analytics, Alfresco Activiti in the Cloud allows non-technical users to easily create and run workflow-driven applications entirely from a web browser at http://activiti.alfresco.com.

“Leveraging Amazon Web Services has empowered Alfresco to rapidly innovate and deliver measurable customer value as demonstrated by our improvements to existing offerings as well as the release of new products, such as Alfresco Activiti, on top of AWS,” said John Newton, Chief Technology Officer and Founder of Alfresco Software. “An increasing number of Alfresco customers are trusting Amazon Web Services with their enterprise application workloads and Alfresco is committed to ensuring customers have the best possible experience when deploying our solutions on AWS.”

“We’re excited to see Alfresco’s commitment to deliver robust document management, records management and smart process applications to customers on AWS,” said Brian Matsubara, Head of Global Technology Alliances, Amazon Web Services, Inc. “Alfresco’s continued commitment to leveraging AWS’s broad array of services helps deliver value to our enterprise and public sector customers in an agile fashion.”
