LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Bigcommerce, the ecommerce platform of choice for fast-growing brands, announced today at the Money20/20 conference a new, open platform approach for omnichannel retail, enabling small- and mid-sized brick-and-mortar retailers to maximize customer, inventory and transaction data across all sales channels. Additionally, the company announced plans to integrate with Lightspeed POS, a commerce solution that powers 21,000 small- and medium-sized retailers, and NCR Silver mobile point-of-sale (POS) to provide local merchants with streamlined and affordable solutions to bridge the gap between physical and online storefronts.
Spurred by the massive growth of ecommerce, estimated to approach $2 trillion worldwide in 2015, consumers have grown increasingly expectant that retailers provide unique, personalized and seamless shopping experiences both in-store and online. According to a recent study1, as consumer shopping has shifted online, as many as 70 percent of shoppers now expect brick-and-mortar retailers to provide “seamless” services such as dynamically updating inventory availability online, in-store product pickup and cross-channel coupons and promotions.
With more than 30 percent of Bigcommerce merchants also operating one or more brick-and-mortar retail locations, managing retail operations holistically has become increasingly complex. With fewer resources and lacking the cost-prohibitive technologies required to integrate brick-and-mortar and ecommerce data, these merchants often struggle to provide the same omnichannel services offered by larger competitors putting themselves at an even greater disadvantage.
Working with independent leading mPOS providers Lightspeed POS and NCR, Bigcommerce unveiled plans to provide merchants with access to robust, integrated store management capabilities through its platform, allowing joint customers to:
- Create dynamic 360-degree view of customer and inventory activity both offline and online. Build a rich 360-degree view of consumer behaviors and product performance on-site and in-store to cultivate high-value customer relationships and identify top-performing products across sales channels.
- Map digital marketing campaigns to in-store shopping behaviors. Understand the impact of advertising campaigns on in-store and online traffic and average order value to optimize marketing spending and channel mix.
- Craft highly-personalized and targeted promotions to attract and retain high-value customers. Make data-driven decisions about promotions, pricing and merchandising informed by comprehensive and detailed reports about purchasing trends.
“Traditionally, providing an integrated shopping experience and having a holistic view of every customer has been limited to the top one percent of retailers,” said Tim Schulz, senior vice president of product for Bigcommerce. “With this product we’re making omnichannel capabilities truly convenient and accessible to merchants of all sizes.”
mPOS Leaders Discuss Democratization of Omnichannel Insights
“We firmly believe fast-growth companies should have access to the same robust omnichannel capabilities used by the world’s largest retailers,” said Dax Dasilva, CEO of Lightspeed POS. “Our partnership with Bigcommerce is a great addition to our other enterprise-grade features such as real-time cross-store inventory syncing, integrated inventory purchase orders, and a customizable iPad application that help our retailers sell more and manage their stores more efficiently.”
“There’s no question that today there is a sizable technology gap between large retailers and small businesses,” said Reggie Kimble, NCR Small Business director of business development. “By choosing to integrate with Bigcommerce, we will be a position to offer our NCR Silver merchants a powerful, integrated solution to manage their businesses across multiple stores, both physical and online.”
