SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Scality, the leader in software-defined storage (SDS) at petabyte-scale, today announced it has signed a global resale agreement with HP. HP, the market leader in enterprise and hyperscale servers, can now offer data storage solutions combining Scality’s RING storage software on innovative HP ProLiant Servers to businesses around the world. Scality and HP together deliver enterprise-class storage for 80% of storage workloads across file, object, and VM-based applications at a cost that is competitive with public cloud. Unlike traditional object storage products, Scality addresses more than just archive use cases, doesn’t require add-on gateways and complexity to support NAS and file-based applications, and is proven in many multi-petabyte production deployments.
The new petabyte-scale SDS solutions will leverage different configurations of Scality RING software and the HP ProLiant SL4500 and DL380/360 product lines to address a broad range of enterprise and service provider use cases including Active Archives, Content Distribution, Web and Cloud Services, Distributed Computing, and Global Enterprise Cloud. Scality RING runs on HP industry standard servers as an application, supporting current and future HP ProLiant Servers. The production-proven combination provides high performance and low latency across large and small files; support for bandwidth and IOPS focused workloads; petabyte-scale; and always-on availability. The solutions are available immediately from Scality and HP sales teams and channel partners worldwide. The agreement between Scality and HP includes joint sales and marketing investments.
“The market demand for Software Defined Storage is clear. HP and Scality customers need real answers to massive storage capacity growth and we have worked closely together to develop an awesome solution,” said Erwan Menard, COO of Scality. “HP and Scality have already successfully collaborated on customer sites in the US, in Europe and in Japan, for over four years, with over 50 petabytes installed. Together, we have delivered successful deployments at Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Dailymotion, RTL2, SFR, Telenet, eTF1 and many more. Today, we’re thrilled to take our partnership to the next level with this announcement.”
“With the explosion of unstructured data growth, it is critical that organizations invest in file and object storage solutions that can effectively support their needs, now and into the future,” said Chuck Smith, Vice President, Business Development, HP Servers. “HP ProLiant servers with Scality provide an enterprise-class object storage solution that scales out linearly as a single distributed, protected system across multiple active sites, thousands of servers, sizing beyond petabytes, and unlimited objects.”
“This is a market-shaping deal for Scality, HP, and customers,” said Terri McClure, Senior Analyst at ESG. “Scality gets global scale with a robust, resurgent enterprise partner in HP. HP gets an innovative software partner in Scality – one that is helping to redefine storage with its high-performance SDS platform. More customers worldwide will experience a new class of software-defined hyperscale storage that flexibly combines great software with an array of server hardware to meet a wide range of use cases IT organizations face today.”
