SANTA CRUZ, Calif.--()--The makers of predictive policing software technology, PredPol, announced today the hiring of veteran technology executive Brian MacDonald as the new Vice President of Sales. MacDonald has over 25 years of experience building and executing business development strategies for some of the industry’s most notable technologies, including one of the world’s first internet service providers and the software platform that would eventually become Android.

MacDonald also served as Vice President of Mobile Business Development at deCarta, where he managed the rollout of location services and applications for T-Mobile, Vodafone and Verizon as well as Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Distribution at Mywaves, one of the first companies to deliver video entertainment to mobile phones worldwide.

He also has a strong background in public safety, having worked with law enforcement and federal agencies as Vice President for Business Development at Vidcie, an In-Q-Tel portfolio company that provides wearable mobile camera systems.

“Brian is one of the top business development professionals in Silicon Valley. His expertise will be invaluable as we expand into new geographic and vertical markets,” said PredPol Chief Executive Officer Larry Samuels.

“I’m excited about the tremendous growth potential of PredPol,” said MacDonald. “But I’m also excited about the impact PredPol’s software can have on communities. Having worked in the public safety space I understand which tools can be force multipliers to law enforcement officials. I am thrilled to be joining this team of cutting edge innovators.”

About PredPol

PredPol’s cloud-based predictive policing software enables law enforcement agencies to better prevent crime in their communities by generating predictions based on the places and times that future crimes are most likely to occur rather than using people-based predictions. PredPol’s algorithms predict many types of crime, including property crimes, drug incidents, gang activity, and gun violence as well as traffic accidents.

PredPol’s technology has been helping law enforcement agencies to dramatically reduce crime in jurisdictions of all types and sizes across the U.S. and overseas. Over the past year, Atlanta and Los Angeles have reduced specific crimes in targeted areas at rates ranging from nearly 20% to over 40%.
