Columbia University and IRI to Hold Second Annual Executive Education Program on Pricing Analytics

Attendees to Gain Insights Into Latest Analytics Innovations Designed to Achieve Sustained, Long-term Growth

CHICAGO & NEW YORK--()--Returning for the second year as a result of widespread acclaim, the Center for Pricing and Revenue Management at Columbia Business School and Information Resources, Inc. (IRI) will host a two-day educational program titled “Pricing Analytics: The Art and Science of Profitable Growth.” The program will take place Oct. 28-29, 2014, on the Columbia University campus.

“Today’s manufacturers and retailers operate within an intensely competitive marketplace. To stay ahead of the pack, industry leaders must leverage advanced analytics and predictive technologies to drive pricing and revenue growth performance,” said Krishnakumar (KK) Davey, president, IRI Global Analytics & Consulting. “By understanding customer attitudes and behaviors more precisely, companies can develop pricing strategies that both attract and retain shoppers and optimize revenue and market share growth opportunities.”

The two-day course will integrate leading academic work and practical commercial advances into a roadmap for enhanced impact. It will include sessions in four critical areas:

  • Supporting better pricing and promotion decisions with analytics
  • Implementing pricing analytics within an organization
  • Transforming analytic insights into action
  • Quantifying the benefits of enhanced pricing analytics

IRI faculty for this program will include Sharat Mathur, Ph.D., practice leader, Revenue Growth Management; and John Porter, executive, portfolio and practice lead. Columbia Business School faculty will consist of Robert Phillips, Ph.D., professor of Professional Practice, Decision, Risk and Operations, and director of Columbia University’s Center for Pricing and Revenue Management; and Garrett van Ryzin, Ph.D., the Paul M. Montrone professor of Private Enterprise and chair of Decision, Risk and Operations. Jeff Ansell will serve as the dinner speaker. Ansell is chairman, president and chief executive officer of the Sun Products Corporation, a leading North American fabric and household-care products company.

“The two-day course at Columbia Business School’s Center for Pricing and Revenue Management equips executives to integrate pricing analytics into business processes and corporate strategy,” said Phillips. “The course demonstrates how to develop better pricing and promotions strategies and translate those insights into customer segmentation and pricing decisions.”
