Mark Janczewski Joins Systems Made Simple as Senior Clinical Informaticist

Janczewski brings more than 35 years of diverse experience to company’s clinical informatics team

SYRACUSE, N.Y.--()--Systems Made Simple Inc., a leading provider of IT systems and services to support critical architecture, data and application challenges in the healthcare industry, today announced Dr. Mark Janczewski as its new senior clinical informaticist. In this role, Janczewski will serve as a physician resource for the company’s operations and clinical informatics teams, supporting the development of healthcare IT strategy models to address data management and interoperability challenges. He will also contribute to and represent the organization through his continued leadership as a co-chair on the international Standards Development Organization (SDO) Health Level Seven’s (HL7) Electronic Health Record Working Group.

“Due to Dr. Janczewski’s extensive government experience and positions with healthcare IT standards organizations, we found he was an ideal fit for this role on our clinical informatics team,” said Al Nardslico, chairman and president of Systems Made Simple. “We believe his broad understanding of the industry will be an asset to Systems Made Simple’s future growth as we continue to explore new opportunities in the healthcare space.”

Dr. Janczewski comes to Systems Made Simple with more than 35 years of experience in a range of industries including mathematics, computer programming, communications, medical information systems and healthcare delivery. He is a retired Air Force Colonel and served as the travel physician for several of the top officials in the Department of Defense including the Secretary of Defense and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Janczewski has held several positions with Military Health System (MHS) and has been involved with partnerships between MHS and the Veterans Health Administration. He recently provided clinical informatics support to VHA health systems portfolio management for a range of Department of Veterans Affairs initiatives and domains, such as telehealth and primary care management module reengineering.

In addition to his position with the HL7 Electronic Health Record Working Group, Janczewski is involved with other professional organizations such as the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA), the Association of Medical Directors of Information Systems (AMDIS) and Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). In January 2014, he became one of less than 500 physicians in the U.S. to achieve the inaugural board certification in clinical informatics, a newly-recognized medical specialty.

“I am pleased to take on this new role with Systems Made Simple as we help healthcare organizations strengthen their data management and IT strategies for improved care delivery,” said Janczewski. “With its widespread technical expertise and strong track record in the federal space, Systems Made Simple is a leading healthcare IT company and I look forward to the opportunity to work closely with the clinical informatics and operations teams on new initiatives.”
