Connexall Granted U.S. Patent for Event Notification System Alerting the Closest Appropriate Person

Extending Industry Leadership Fall Risk Mitigation

BOULDER, Colo. & TORONTO--()--Connexall, the industry leader in alarm management and event notification, has been granted a patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for an Event Notification System alerting the closest, appropriate caregiver in a particular scenario.

Given the number of patients assigned, and the amount of alarms triggered to alert caregivers of events associated with those patients, oftentimes, the assigned clinician is not within close proximity to the patient in need. Connexall has developed and now patented an event notification system by which the alert can be sent to the closest appropriate caregiver.

Notifications are processed by the system to determine, by location, which one or more individuals should receive the message alerting them to the event occurrence, which is then transmitted to those identified. By correlating the caregiver information associated with a locator tag and an event generated by the event source, Connexall determines the current physical location associated with the tag and generates a message notifying the closest appropriate individual(s).

According to the Joint Commission, ineffective caregiver communication is the cause of almost 70% of sentinel events in a hospital setting. Having the ability to alert the closest appropriate caregiver has and will continue to resolve delayed responses which often results in unnecessary negative outcomes.

“We are delighted to be acknowledged by the US Patent Office for our latest advancement,” stated John Elms, Connexall president. “While other vendors claim to be on the cutting edge of next generation alarm management software, Connexall continues to be the verifiable industry leader innovating for the benefit of patients and caregivers in hospitals worldwide,” continued Elms.
