NIMBOXX Joins Texas Tech University Cloud and Autonomic Computing Center as Industry Advisory Board Member

Company will help guide research initiatives and collaborate on the development and advancement of cloud computing standards

AUSTIN, Texas--()--NIMBOXX™ today announced it has joined the Texas Tech University Cloud and Autonomic Computing Center (CAC@TTU) as an industry advisory board member, and is currently one of five organizations that selects research topics and sets Center priorities to help translate ideas into business value and commercialization opportunities.

The CAC@TTU is one of five research centers around the country supported by the National Science Foundation Industry/University Cooperative Research Centers Program. The CAC@TTU’s goals are to identify and foster public-private partnerships on topics directly related to emerging cloud standards, identify and develop coordinated efforts on reference implementations, and create a trained workforce capable of sustaining the activities and opportunities created through these joint efforts.

“Though cloud computing is clearly experiencing growth, the lack of mature cloud standards is a critical industry inhibitor right now,” said Rocky Bullock, CEO of NIMBOXX, Inc. “Having more pervasive standards would allow developers, vendors and users to focus on higher level capabilities and less on reinventing common features. We’re proud to support the work of the CAC@TTU to develop and promote trusted and reliable cloud offerings that leverage our own deep experience in cloud, virtualization and systems management technologies.”

“Our goal is to help industry members address tough computing problems while supporting skills development for the next generation of technology practitioners,” said Alan Sill, CAC@TTU site director. “I’m thrilled to have NIMBOXX join our organization as an industry advisory board member, and look forward to working with them to accelerate the adoption of cloud methods, standards and services.”

“Industry engagement is critical to the success of top research universities,” said Russell Thomasson, Interim Vice Chancellor of Research and Commercialization at the Texas Tech University System. “We are fortunate to have NIMBOXX join a growing list of industry leaders who are committed to Texas Tech’s research in cloud and autonomic computing.”

NIMBOXX recently unveiled its ‘atomic unit’ of the software-defined data center, an all-in-one standards-based solution that puts a hyper-scale computing model within reach for organizations of all sizes. For more information, visit: http://www.nimboxx.com/products.
