ITT Opens High-Energy Pump Testing and Packaging Facility

Expansion driven by global growth of ITT and Goulds Pumps brand in oil and gas industry

SENECA FALLS, N.Y.--()--ITT Corporation (NYSE:ITT) today unveiled the newest addition to its Seneca Falls, N.Y., manufacturing campus: an advanced testing and packaging facility for its complex, highly engineered pumps used primarily by the global oil and gas, petrochemical and mining industries. The new building totals 89,000 square feet including office space, with approximately 79,000 square feet dedicated to product operations.

The $22 million expansion was driven primarily by the growth of ITT and its Goulds Pumps brand in the oil and gas industry, which requires highly engineered pump products for use in refinery, pipeline, production and other critical environments. Earlier this year, the company also completed an expansion of its Norman G. Gould Technical Center on its Seneca Falls campus, which houses its product engineering and research and development staff.

“Today is a major milestone in the rich history of ITT and the Goulds Pumps brand as it represents our ongoing commitment to being a leader in the global oil and gas industry,” said Denise Ramos, ITT chief executive officer and president. “Seneca Falls is a hub of our global energy strategy, and this investment allows us to optimize our manufacturing capabilities to better serve our global customers as we expand our portfolio for the oil and gas as well as the petrochemical and mining industries.”

Joining ITT executives and employees for the opening ceremonies were New York state and local elected officials and economic development leaders, including Lt. Governor Robert J. Duffy, who serves as chair of New York’s Regional Economic Development Councils.

“Founded in the same year as the first Women’s Rights Convention, Goulds Pumps has a long history in Seneca Falls and ITT Corporation has brought it to the next level, refocusing its market and spearheading new growth,” said Lt. Governor Robert J. Duffy. “ITT Corporation’s newest expansion ensures a long-term commitment to the region and to the hundreds of employees in this Finger Lakes community who work in the facility.”

The new building complements an advanced pump factory ITT opened in October 2013 in South Korea. Together, the two facilities coordinate with the company’s network of other pump manufacturing and packaging sites to serve customer requirements around the world. The Seneca Falls Operations has focused teams for configured-to-order process pumps and complex, highly engineered pump systems to maintain flexibility and responsiveness to diverse customer needs, supported by a foundry that provides high-quality castings and metallurgy services for the product range.

“It’s exciting to see how the significant investments we are making around the world are coming to fruition,” said Aris C. Chicles, president of ITT’s Industrial Process business. “We are continuing and accelerating our strategy to be the industrial process company that solves our customers most complex technical challenges, and today’s opening signals another advancement in that journey.”

The new building for large, high-energy pump packages features a new 8,000-horsepower performance test facility and was custom designed for testing and final configuration of complex pump packages that can be up to 30 feet long and weigh more than 25 tons. It features a modular floor design for project flexibility and can test pump flows of up to 150,000 gallons per minute. The facility is equipped with a customer observation booth with test gauges and read-outs, computer analysis equipment and video capabilities for customer witness testing.
