Gamping : Camping in Garden

PARIS & MADRID--()--After "Couchsurfing" and "Wwoofing", travelers are now more likely to try a new style of vacationing: "Gamping." A contraction of "Garden-Camping," Gamping allows for camping at private houses for a few euros. Original, practical, and inexpensive, this new trend is sweeping Europe.

Based on the principle of collaborative consumption, "Gamping" connects campers and people willing to offer their garden, around the world.

An alternative to wilderness camping and classic camping, Gamping offers another innovative way to camp.

This low cost (between €5 and 7 per night, per person) allows the enjoyment of spacious and private places, the comfort of the inhabitants, and more (barbecue, pool, tennis court...)

Conceived in 2013, "Gamping" has already won thousands of followers. A French startup, gamping.com has nearly 500 hosts offering more than 1,200 spaces for tents, campers, and caravans, now spanning 18 countries (France, Spain, Italy, United States, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Costa Rica, Tunisia, Kenya, Poland, Belgium, Portugal, Burkina Faso, Romania, Uruguay, England).

About

The man behind this idea is Joseph Léopold, who sought an alternative to traditional campsites and wilderness camping.

For a little background, upon returning from a trip to Italy, he returned home to find himself without his keys, so he camped... in his garden! Charmed by the experience, he became convinced that other travelers might be, too. Therefore, he decided to create gamping.com to create a platform for this new hosting paradigm... and to help the most people benefit from it!

The news travels fast...
