WebNMS and Omnitron Systems Partner to Support SDN-Enabled Carrier Ethernet Service Automation

Omnitron Network Interface Device Integration with WebNMS Delivers Dynamic Service Orchestration

PLEASANTON, Calif.--()--WebNMS, a division of Zoho Corp. and a leading global provider of network and element management solutions, and Omnitron Systems, a leading innovator and manufacturer of MEF Carrier Ethernet 2.0 solutions, announced a partnership to integrate Omnitron’s iConverter GM4 Network Interface Devices (NIDs) with the Carrier Ethernet component of a comprehensive solution. Together, the two companies deliver dynamic provisioning and operation of network services that enables migration to carrier Software Defined Networking (SDN) orchestration.

As end-user applications increasingly demand rapid delivery of high bandwidth services, communications service providers need to automate service provisioning and operations on their expanding deployed networks to keep pace. Carrier services, including mobile backhaul, cloud computing, data center connectivity and business Ethernet all rely on sophisticated networking and transport equipment to fulfill Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with high availability and performance assurance.

Omnitron’s iConverter Carrier Ethernet 2.0 certified Network Interface Devices have been integrated with the WebNMS Framework Orchestration Platform to provide a powerful, SDN solution that streamlines critical, end-to-end service orchestration with the following capabilities:

  • Elastic service creation and delivery
  • Automated service provisioning and activation testing
  • Continuous service performance monitoring
  • Dynamic service adjustments through a customer portal via a RESTful API

The Omnitron/WebNMS integration enables Carrier Ethernet 2.0 service automation on a network of Omnitron iConverter GM4 NIDs orchestrated by the WebNMS Framework. The cloud-based WebNMS Customer Portal emphasizes the dynamic nature of SDN services by making live adjustments through Omnitron’s GM4 NID flexible service provisioning interfaces.

“Integration with WebNMS leverages the latest Carrier Ethernet 2.0 service testing, performance assurance, fault management and service protection provided by Omnitron’s iConverter Carrier Ethernet 2.0 Network Interface Devices,” said Sankar Ramachandran, director of Telecom Product Marketing of Omnitron Systems. “This partnership enables our customers to reduce their operational costs with automated service creation and activation testing. The partnership also provides a cloud-based portal to respond to customer demands in an incredibly efficient and simple manner.”

Extending monitoring, control of performance, and accelerating service provisioning helps communications service providers differentiate services by improving the end-user experience. Automated service provisioning and activation are essential to control operational costs. As performance demands increase, enabling and orchestrating dynamic service adjustments will become increasingly important as service provider Carrier Ethernet and MPLS networks become larger and more complex. The graphic user interface of the WebNMS Customer SLA Cloud Portal provides intuitive, fluid service control to enable on-demand, end-to-end service creation and activation by the end user.

“Many of our carrier customers seamlessly manage multi-vendor Carrier Ethernet and MPLS networks with WebNMS SDN solutions,” said Prabhu Ramachandran, director of WebNMS. “By collaborating with Omnitron, we are showing our carrier customers a smooth path to dynamic services. This partnership enables WebNMS carrier SDN orchestration of Carrier Ethernet services on the iConverter GM4 NID. Omnitron’s proven demarcation solutions provide an exciting vehicle to unify service orchestration across Carrier Ethernet, MPLS and transport networking.”
