PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--RES Software and its Chief Executive Officer, Klaus Besier, today jointly announced the planned retirement of Mr. Besier after a five-year tenure as Chairman and CEO of the company and more than 35 years of leadership in the enterprise software industry. Mr. Besier will transition to a new role of Executive Advisor during the third quarter and will continue to work with RES Software on a part-time basis on strategic initiatives and key customer and partner relationships. With this news, RES Software also announced that it has begun a CEO search process and formed a search committee of its board of directors, led by Mr. Besier and board member James Socas.
“Since I joined RES Software five years ago, we have defined a new infrastructure market – workspace management – become the category leader, added tremendous value to a prestigious list of customers, and transformed into a truly multinational company. I am extremely proud of that record,” said Mr. Besier. “My plan when I joined RES Software – a plan which my family has reminded me of on several occasions – was to serve for a limited period of time. Now at the five-year mark and a bright future ahead, it is the right point for me to honor that commitment. I will continue to work – as I have for many years – not only in my advisory capacity with RES Software, but also on various corporate boards. But, after decades of leadership, RES Software will be my last CEO role.”
Mr. Besier was named chairman of RES Software in October 2009 and assumed the role of CEO in April 2010. Under his leadership, global revenue saw exponential increases, with countries outside of its founding Netherlands market now accounting for more than 50 percent of the company’s revenue. RES Software has sold almost three million licenses of its products and established important strategic relationships and alliances with AirWatch, Capgemini, Citrix, Dell, IBM, Microsoft, ServiceNow, VMware, and others. Most recently, in early 2014, RES Software successfully launched the RES IT Store, a major product initiative that addresses the challenges of delivering, managing and controlling IT services in today’s complex and dynamic modern workspace infrastructure.
In addition to serving as CEO of RES Software, Mr. Besier has three decades of successful industry leadership, having previously built and led the strategic direction of global software leader SAP America, Inc. as its President and CEO. Under his leadership, SAP America grew from $50 million to $1 billion in revenues in less than five years. Mr. Besier also served as President and CEO of Firepond Inc., which he took public in one of the most successful IPOs of 2000. Mr. Besier also held the role of President and CEO of Neoware, Inc., where he drove a transformation of the business and strong topline growth that resulted in its acquisition by HP in 2007 with a total transaction value of more than $300 million.
