NCC to Expand Svealandbanan Railway Line for SEK 975 Million

SOLNA, Sweden--()--Regulatory News:

NCC (STO:NCCA)(STO:NCCB) has been commissioned by the Swedish Transport Administration to expand the Svealandbanan railway line with double tracks on the Strängnäs–Härad section. The order is worth SEK 975 million.

NCC’s assignment includes building 8.5 kilometers of double-track railway, three kilometers of rock tunnels and nine bridges. The expansion will benefit regional development since it will increase the frequency of train services on Svealandsbanan.

The environmental investigation performed by the Swedish Transport Administration will provide the project with excellent prerequisites for systematic sustainability work.

Through efficient project engineering, NCC will also be able to ensure efficient logistics to minimize transport and thus reduce emissions.

“Sustainability will be in focus throughout the project and we will comply with our Green building concept. This means that we will create energy-efficient establishments in the form of eco-labelled electricity, energy-efficient structures, needs-based lighting, energy-efficient equipment, efficient transport and environmentally compatible management of waste products,” says Svante Hagman, Head of NCC Construction Sweden.

NCC will start work in summer 2014 and the entire expansion project is scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2018. The project is estimated to employ approximately 60 individuals. The order will be registered during the second quarter of 2014 in the NCC Construction Sweden business area.
