DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dallas-based Parker University announced today the establishment of a new College of Business and Technology. The college, which includes undergraduate and graduate business and technology degree programs, is currently enrolling students each month.
“The development of this new college builds on Parker’s increasing technological strengths, and ensures we will continue to prepare students for careers in these fast-growing fields,” said Dr. Brian McAulay, President of Parker University.
The creation of the college is a direct response to state and national demand for graduates in business and technology, with computer systems analysts and computer systems administrators both listed among CareerCast’s top 20 Best Jobs in 2014.
The college will serve as an intersection between business and technology studies, with courses geared toward economic, technical and professional application and development. Currently, the College of Business and Technology encompasses the online Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Health Care Management, the online Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management, the online Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems with concentrations in Cybersecurity and Information Technology and the Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Technology.
Dr. Charlene Conner has been named the founding Dean of the new college. Dr. Conner previously served as Dean of the College of Business and Graduate Business Programs at Dallas Baptist University. Formerly, she served as Associate Dean and led the successful reaffirmation and accreditation efforts.
“The creation of the College of Business and Technology not only further positions Parker as an academic leader in Dallas, but also enhances the interdisciplinary learning that’s so essential for today’s job market,” Dr. Conner said.
“Whether students plan to work in health care, business, or the countless organizations that cater to them, the collaborative nature of the College of Business and Technology and its programs will serve them very well as their careers develop,” said Dr. Gery Hochanadel, Provost of Parker University.
The college will also offer a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration beginning in Fall of 2014. Parker University will continue to develop degree programs that support its initiative to add 12 new programs through 2017. The university projects enrollment to reach nearly 2,700 students by 2015.
