HORSHAM, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NextGen Healthcare Information Systems, LLC., a wholly owned subsidiary of Quality Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: QSII) and a leading provider of healthcare information systems and connectivity solutions, announced today an agreement with Avita Health System for the deployment of a range of NextGen® solutions across its extensive enterprise. Avita Health System will use NextGen® solutions to improve organizational efficiencies and drive growth as it strives to comply with regulatory requirements mandated by healthcare reform.
Avita Health System is comprised of two critical access hospitals (Bucyrus and Galion) and over 20 medical offices throughout Crawford and Richland Counties in Ohio. Avita Health System selected NextGen Healthcare to replace several end-of-life software systems after outgrowing the functionality and capabilities of their legacy system. Avita will also look to NextGen to help the enterprise prepare for Meaningful Use Stage 2 and the transition to ICD-10.
Avita will integrate the following NextGen technologies system-wide creating a single database platform:
- NextGen® Ambulatory EHR an ONC 2014 Edition certified complete electronic health record (EHR) that is Meaningful Use (MU) Stage 2 and ICD-10-ready.
- NextGen® Practice Management an easy-to-use, robust practice management platform, fully integrated with NextGen Ambulatory EHR that helps organizations improve operational results.
- NextGen® Patient Portal an online tool, integrated with NextGen Ambulatory EHR and NextGen Practice Management that offers patients secure communication with providers.
- NextGen® Population Health a protocol-based communication solution that tightly integrates with core NextGen® solutions to track and enhance patient care.
- NextGen® EHR Connect an interoperability package that enables NextGen Ambulatory EHR to exchange standards-based data with any Health Information Exchange (HIE), disease registry state designated entity, or public health entity in real time, within normal provider workflows.
Additionally, Avita Health System will implement NextGen® Emergency Department Solution at Galion Community Hospital to help manage emergency department patients and increase work flow, improving efficiencies throughout its emergency care settings.
Utilizing NextGen® technology, Avita Health System will gain enhanced access to patient data and appointment scheduling, experience improved flexibility to handle high patient volumes, streamline their workflow and develop more comprehensive claims management capabilities. Additionally, the integration of the NextGen Population Health and NextGen Patient Portal will facilitate effective electronic communication and clinical data exchange between physicians and patients, helping the organization care for its patient population and meet the necessary Meaningful Use criteria for engaging patients and families in their healthcare.
Leveraging NextGen EHR Connect, Avita Health System will exchange standards-based data with CliniSync, the statewide Health Information Exchange (HIE) based in Hilliard, Ohio, allowing them to share vital patient data across care communities, in real time within their existing workflow.
“We recognized the pressing need to implement a fully integrated system along with a technology partner that would streamline our processes, improve our organizational efficiencies, and support our continued growth,” said Alex Reed, director of information services for Avita Health System. “Our overall mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of those we serve and with NextGen Healthcare, we found a partner with a proven track record that shares our vision for improving patient outcomes and achieving concrete results. We are confident that implementing these leading NextGen Healthcare solutions will not only help us meet regulatory requirements, but also improve the connectivity and communications between physicians, patients and our entire health system.”
“As the impetus to improve the quality of healthcare accelerates, so does the need to champion all the components that come with the successful, future delivery of healthcare,” said Michael Lovett, executive vice president and general manager for NextGen Healthcare. “Partnering with Avita Health System is indicative of us doing just that. Our scalable, multi-product offering supports the infrastructure needed for healthcare organizations to stay ahead of the curve and thrive in our nation’s evolving healthcare system. By putting the right solutions in place, we are providing our clients the tools necessary to optimize the patient experience and better coordinate care, which ultimately results in improved outcomes.”
