ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tourico Holidays, a global leader in wholesale travel brokerage, today announced that it will host a “Scrubs Cruise” in honor of National Nurses Week (May 6-12) and as a unique way of giving back to the healthcare community that has dedicated their lives to helping others. The cruise, which will set sail in April 2015, is open to all nurses, healthcare professionals, and their families, and will offer training courses onboard.
Nurses, firefighters, doctors and other healthcare professionals will enjoy a 4-night trip to Cozumel, Mexico, aboard the Royal Caribbean Brilliance of the Seas, a 4 star cruise ship packed with features – including a nine-story central atrium, floor-to-ceiling windows throughout, 3 pools, a mini golf course, a Rock-climbing wall, a Casino Royale®, specialty dining, and 16 bars and lounges - with drinks paid for by Tourico Holidays.
Healthcare professionals will also have the option of attending training sessions - earning continuing education contact hours - while on the ship. Teaching activities will be held throughout the trip, so nurses can learn new skills and collaborate with likeminded professionals in a change of scenery.
“Before I joined Tourico, I was in the higher education industry for almost a decade - promoting continued education for nurse professionals,” said Afa Ismayilova, Director of Cruise Marketing for Tourico Holidays. “Throughout my experience I was amazed how smart, driven, hardworking, selfless, and yet so undervalued, nurses are. Now that I’ve transitioned to Tourico’s cruise department, this is my chance to make another small contribution to the wonderful world of nurses.”
The first annual Scrubs Cruise pushed-off from Orlando, Florida a month ago, on April 4, to the Royal Caribbean islands of CocoCay and Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas. Over a hundred nurses were aboard the newly upgraded Enchantment of the Seas® to enjoy the inaugural voyage.
“We received so much positive feedback about this year’s event that we decided every National Nurse Week should be preceded by a celebratory cruise,” said Ismayilova.
