MRO Announces Founding Membership with Carequality

Company Joins More Than 30 National Healthcare Organizations as Founding Member of Carequality Interoperability Initiative

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa.--()--MRO Corp., a leader in disclosure management and health information exchange, announced today that it is a founding member of Carequality ("care-e-quality"), an industry collaborative bringing together diverse HIT industry leaders in order to build consensus on how to accelerate seamless health information exchange.

The formation of Carequality was announced on February 24, 2014 at the HIMSS 2014 conference. Ultimately, the goal of this new initiative is to accelerate the exchange of data throughout the healthcare industry. While many interoperability efforts have attempted to tackle this challenge in the past independently, Carequality will build a unifying framework and build consensus across the industry.

“MRO has been a leader in national programs for the standards-based electronic exchange of health information, including esMD and the Direct Project, and joining Carequality completes a powerful trifecta,” said David Borden, Chief Technology Officer at MRO. “Being a member allows MRO to support our customers as they move along their path in becoming connected with HIE on a national level.”

Carequality is an initiative within Healtheway, the non-profit public-private organization that was created to act as the governing body of the Nationwide Health Information Network, now rebranded as the eHealth Exchange. Healtheway will serve as the convener for Carequality, providing the effort with a corporate home for legal and contractual purposes as well as other roles needed to support the new interoperability initiative.

“We are pleased to have MRO as a founding member of Carequality,” said Mariann Yeager, Executive Director of Healtheway. “The company’s ongoing commitment to the future of nationwide HIE based on HIT standards exemplifies the kind of determination and consistency that is vital in turning our end goal of nationwide health IT interoperability into a reality.”

The deadline for founding membership with Carequality is May 1, 2014. There are currently 35 committed founding organizations.
