SAN FRANCISCO--()--StubHub, the world’s largest ticket marketplace, today announced its biggest music initiative yet to discover and support emerging artists while giving exclusive access to the true music fan: StubHub’s Next Stage.

StubHub’s next stage for music will launch with two first-of-its-kind concert series, which will include five dates produced in partnership with Pandora Presents, a Pandora brand concert series, and five dates produced on its own as StubHub’s Next Stage Concert Series, which will benefit the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation (MHOF). In another first for the company, by ticketing its own self-produced concerts, StubHub is taking its approach to music to the next stage.

“We at StubHub are constantly exploring new ways to reward fans,” said Michael Lattig, Chief Marketing Officer of StubHub. “Spotlighting emerging artists and supporting the ‘next stage’ of youth musical talent, the Next Stage series will be just the start of a much larger focus on helping fans connect with the music they love and rewarding them for being such great fans – the way it should be.”

The series launches on April 30 in partnership with “Pandora Presents” and will feature Tokyo Police Club at Boulevard 3 in Los Angeles. Pandora Presents is a free concert series designed to connect fans with the artists they love in a live setting. Together, Pandora and StubHub will present five intimate concerts with emerging acts, leveraging Pandora’s unique ability to determine the artist for each city by analyzing the musical preferences of local listeners. StubHub and Pandora’s integrated brand partnership includes a StubHub custom content station on Pandora, which will allow fans to experience behind-the-scenes access to their favorite artists.

Pandora Head of Music Partnerships, Tommy Page, said, “At Pandora, we have long recognized the power of discovering music through live events and what a powerful experience that can be for our listeners. We are excited to partner with the world’s largest ticket marketplace to bring our listeners closer to the artists they love.”

Other stops in Pandora Presents, a StubHub partnered concert series, will include Delta Spirit on May 27 at Middle East Nightclub in Boston, as well as yet to be announced artists in Nashville in June, San Francisco in July and wrap up in Los Angeles in August.

StubHub’s Next Stage Concert Series benefitting Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation will kick off its self-produced and self-ticketed benefit concerts in Los Angeles on May 18th with the first surprise artist being announced and going on-sale next week. This is the first of five concerts from its Next Stage series benefitting MHOF, which will continue to Nashville in June, San Francisco in August, Chicago in September and wrap up in New York, NY in October.

StubHub recognizes that providing rewarding experiences and taking its music efforts to the next stage extends beyond the concert and, as such, is continuing the mission of its corporate social responsibility program promoting music education and the arts by naming Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation a national recipient of its Rising Star Award. The award comes with an initial $250,000 grant from the StubHub Foundation (a corporate-advised fund of the Silicon Valley Community Foundation) and access to StubHub’s platform, partners and employee talent to help further its mission to keep music alive in schools.

The StubHub Foundation grant will be distributed by MHOF to schools in need, in the form of $50,000 in new musical instruments in each market that will help to ensure the continuation and expansion of school music education programs throughout the five concert series markets. In addition, 100% of ticket proceeds from the Next Stage benefit concerts will be donated to MHOF.

About Mr. Holland’s Opus

The Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation was inspired by the acclaimed motion picture Mr. Holland’s Opus, the story of the profound effect a dedicated music teacher had on generations of students. The film's composer, Michael Kamen, started the foundation in 1996 as his commitment to the future of music education.

The foundation donates both new and refurbished instruments to school music programs that lack the resources to keep up with aging equipment and to accommodate students on waiting lists or who have to share instruments. An infusion of instruments enables more students to participate and to experience a quality music education. It is vital that efforts are made to give youngsters every tool available within the small window of time when they can make the most of their education, and experience the benefits inherent in learning to play music.

The foundation has donated instruments to 1,215 schools nationwide serving hundreds of thousands of students.
