National Head Start Association Conference 2014

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.--()--Hatch®, the leading early childhood education technology provider, today released version 3 of their award winning TeachSmart® preschool software. Announced at the National Head Start Association (NHSA) Conference in Long Beach, CA, Hatch’s TeachSmart turns Microsoft Windows®-based interactive whiteboards and multi-touch displays into educational powerhouses. Developed by leading early childhood education experts for use in preschool classrooms, TeachSmart builds school readiness skills and seamlessly integrates interactive technology into the early childhood classroom.

Teachers around the country applaud TeachSmart. “I’ve never seen anything like Hatch technology,” said Gloria Jordon, a Scottsdale, GA teacher. The new TeachSmart software connects interactive whiteboard users to Hatch’s exclusive research-based activities in fewer than three clicks, giving early learners quick access to the only software research-tested to increase a child’s readiness to learn the reading and math skills required for success in school.

“One in three children enters kindergarten unprepared to read or to learn math,” said Ginny Norton, President of Hatch. “Hatch technology has helped more than 500,000 children prepare for Kindergarten, and their marked improvement in school readiness speaks to the benefits that TeachSmart brings to the classroom.”

Educators will have an opportunity to interact with TeachSmart and other Hatch technology for early childhood education during a hands-on learning experience with classroom technology for early childhood educators, in collaboration with Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT), the worldwide leader in software, services and solutions. Four “Hands-on with Head Start Technology Learning Zone” sessions will take place at the National Head Start Association (NHSA) Conference in Long Beach, CA on April 30 – May 1, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. PST.

While describing her experience with TeachSmart software in the classroom, Linda Slusarczyk, a Preschool For All teacher in the Chicago area said, “I utilize it [to plan] large and small group activities, as well as for individual teaching activities.” Hatch’s TeachSmart supports inclusive classrooms with a range of learning levels, from emerging to intervention to typically developing. Developmental levels are clearly defined for each activity, making it easy for teachers to tailor activities for each child or group to provide the right level of difficulty.

Both TeachSmart, Hatch’s award-winning software for the preschool classroom, and CoreFocus®, the company’s award-winning software aligned with the Common Core curriculum for Kindergarten and first grade classrooms, are built to run on Hatch’s exclusive interactive displays and whiteboards. They will also run on interactive whiteboards from other Windows®-based vendors.
