KNOXVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PerfectServe – the intelligent, unified clinical communications platform company – today announced it achieved Service Organization Controls (SOC) 2 Type II confirmation of its security and privacy controls by an independent third-party auditor. The SOC 2 confirmation demonstrates to current and potential PerfectServe customers that the company has the highest standard security controls in place to help protect patient health information and ensure HIPAA-compliance.
“In healthcare communications it is particularly critical for systems to be secure, as even the smallest of breaches can lead to major financial penalties,” said Don Dally, PerfectServe’s chief technology officer. “This SOC 2 confirmation shows our continued commitment to protecting patient information and providing the most secure communications platform for our customers, helping them to avoid these sometimes devastating fines.”
The SOC 2 audit process has been developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) to determine the effectiveness of security, availability, or processing integrity controls at a service organization. The SOC 2 process is widely recognized as the authoritative and uniform method for confirming the design and operation of internal controls by practitioners in the performance of trust services engagements.
PerfectServe’s independent audit was conducted by LBMC from July 1 through December 31, 2013. In order to showcase its adherence to these best practices, PerfectServe was required to demonstrate effective controls over a period of six months. As a result, customers and prospects can be confident in the security of electronic patient health information being shared amongst clinicians on the PerfectServe suite of unified clinical communications solutions. Because PerfectServe automatically documents every communications transaction and includes the analytics necessary to help monitor the entire clinical communication process, its solutions also make monitoring the risk of healthcare organizations quite simple.
