David Lloyd Leisure and Universal Music Join Forces to Launch the David Lloyd Playlist App

HATFIELD, England--()--David Lloyd Leisure (http://www.davidlloyd.co.uk/home) has teamed up with Universal Music UK to launch the David Lloyd Playlist, an exclusive music app aimed at boosting performance during exercise.

Created in conjunction with a leading sports psychologist, the app has been developed by experts at Europe’s premier health, sport and leisure group and the UK’s leading music company in the first joint initiative of its kind.

The David Lloyd Playlist, which is simple to use and compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and Android devices, enhances workout efficiency and enjoyment by matching a track’s beat with workout pace. The tracks were carefully selected using sports psychology research which shows that synchronising music and exercise rhythm leads to enhanced performance.

The app gives both David Lloyd Leisure members and non-members access to thousands of Universal Music artists, with fully customised playlists updated weekly to keep fitness routines fresh and users continually motivated.

Ideal for anyone, from beginners to those who exercise regularly, as well as music enthusiasts, the David Lloyd Playlist features specially curated tracks for activities including jogging/running; rowing; cross-training; cycling; strength training (http://www.davidlloyd.co.uk/home/activities/classes/conditioning); stretching, outdoor running; and family exercise (http://www.davidlloyd.co.uk/home/families).

Other features include storing playlists offline to listen to anytime and anywhere; creating personal playlists of favourite songs; automatic volume adjustment; and the latest news on fitness and nutrition from David Lloyd Leisure’s experts.

Scott Lloyd, Chief Executive of David Lloyd Leisure with 81 clubs in the UK and 10 across Europe, said: “We are delighted to announce the launch of this exclusive app in a joint collaboration with Universal Music, the market leader in its field.

“David Lloyd Leisure constantly seeks new and innovative ways to help people achieve their health and fitness goals, and the David Lloyd Playlist is a fantastic, simple-to-use tool that harnesses scientific research to enable members and non-members to reach a new level of fitness while listening to Universal Music’s rich array of artists.”

Brian Rose, Managing Director of Universal Music UK’s Commercial Division, commented: “Our partnership with the leading health and fitness (http://www.davidlloyd.co.uk/home/goals) experts at David Lloyd Leisure has been key to developing this sophisticated music and fitness app.

“We have carefully selected playlists to match the rhythm of a wide range of exercise routines and they will be updated weekly, so that there’s always something new. It is really great to know that our artists’ tracks will not only be giving obvious enjoyment, but that they will be helping people of all fitness abilities get the very most out of exercise.”
