Health Language Selected by BJC HealthCare to Mitigate ICD-10 Transition Impact

DENVER--()--Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading global provider of information for healthcare professionals and students, announced today that BJC HealthCare will leverage the expertise of its Health Language® Professional Services team to mitigate the financial impact of the health system’s transition to ICD-10.

In addition to analyzing historical claims data to identify potential high-risk reimbursement areas, the Health Language Professional Services team will conduct a gap analysis of managed care contracts and documentation practices. This will provide BJC HealthCare with the data needed to devise effective contracting and clinical documentation improvement strategies to minimize any impacts on revenues and the revenue cycle related to the complex transition to ICD-10.

One of the largest non-profit healthcare organizations in the U.S., St. Louis-based BJC HealthCare is focused on delivering services to residents primarily in the greater St. Louis, southern Illinois and mid-Missouri regions. With 2012 net revenues of $3.8 billion, BJC includes 12 hospitals and multiple community health locations, providing inpatient and outpatient care, primary care, community health and wellness, workplace health, home health, community mental health, rehabilitation, long-term care and hospice services.

“Readiness strategies that proactively address potential issues related to ICD-10 are critical to success as the transition deadline fast approaches,” said Brian McDonald, Vice President, Health Language, Wolters Kluwer Health, Clinical Solutions. “We are pleased BJC HealthCare has chosen to apply our team’s deep expertise and successful track record to future compliance and long-term success.”
